What makeup will I need once the baby comes?

I'd like some really nice make up for Christmas, the sort of stuff that I wouldn't usually buy day to day. I'll have a newborn next year so I'll need something that really cuts through the bags, easy to apply and looks natural. I have dark hair and pale-ish skin with blue eyes.

Can anyone recommend me something lovely?

Hi there.

I swear by Laura mercier bronzing gel! it looks dark in the tube and you need to use sparingly but I find it gives such a good warm colour to me and easier to blend than a traditional powder.

Also Bobbi Bowen 'slopes' blush is a lovely warm pink that makes me look reasonably alive.

Laura mercier clavier sticks are great crayons for eyeshadow - I use rose gold which seems universally flattering.

My make up has changed for the better since having DC's - I need quick, easy to apply products that last. Also I have just the stuff I use day to day in a small make up bag so I can take to work/in my bag or just leave it I the kitchen so I can do my make up anywhere.

If you have clear skin normally, get a really good concealer eg benefit boiing, and some cream blush.
Lots of people like bb cream because it's quick and gives a healthy glow. Gives me spots though.

Since having DD, I swear by Origins Vitazing (best product I've ever used - and trust me, I've tried many from La Mer foundation to Rimmel) and some Lilylolo mineral powder on top.

You will still be the same person you are now! Seriously whatever works for you now will still be good in a few months - you don't have to buy special stuff.

Maybe stuff to brighten you up - like nice lipstick, nail polish (quick drying) and blusher.

I'm not a mum but the mums I do know who like makeup agree on the above - I'd not suggest lipgloss as it'll only get wiped off. Look for 2 in 1 products too. A brilliant foundation is a boon too as are the eye shadow LM pencils (I have them).

I'd also suggest a good under eye concealor I use Clinique Air Brush/Flash and some mascara but you could get eyelashes dyed? I find mascara helps me feel alive. Also Bare Minerals do eyeliners (Big and Bright) online mostly - the Espresso shade brightens my blue eyes but the others may work for yours.

I don't wear it every day but I'll be honest and say that if I leave the house, even if it's to pop to the shop I put some on. I have been using BB cream and some loose powder over the top, and then some mascara. Blusher has been the big revelation for me, I never used to bother but now I find a swish of it brightens my face up no end! I've got the new Benefit one which is just lovely.

A moisturiser, BB cream & tint/foundation combined is a massive timesaver. Olay Total Effect moisturiser with Touch of Foundation does all 3 and is a real winner. Gives a wonderful glow to my face, great base for powder & so quick and easy to apply

Nars Orgasm Blush blusher is amazing, long lasting and suits most complexions

Max factor facefinity powder foundation (in the compact) is great and very very quick to put on. I just don't have time for liquid foundations etc as no time to wash my hands afterwards! Thankfully this is also the best one I've ever used, I actually look like I've had some sleep when I wear it. Plus Soap and Glory kick ass concealer for dark circles.

And Benefit dandelion for blusher.

Takes me literally less than 1 minute to apply all of that :) Benefit dandelion is prob one to ask for for Christmas as isn't cheap (but lasts a while).

Thanks for the recommendations :)
I think I would probably go for the powder foundation, I've never been able to figure out how to apply liquid and still look good. It just looks heavy on my face.

I've got some good ideas for my wish list here, thank you.
