Dress agencies

I have an abundance of clothes I no longer wear. Not designer, but decent high street - Jigsaw, Hobbs, Whistles, Fenn Wright Manson and Jaeger mainly. They are in good condition, and I've taken a few pieces into a dress agency in Berkhamsted to hopefully sell - the shop keeps them for 4 weeks then I need to go and pick up what's left.

Has anyone else used dress agencies? If so, have you had much success? I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, but some extra cash at thus time of year would be really handy!

Not recently, but when I did they take a big cut, maybe 50%? Ebay would be a better bet.

Yes, the shop I'm using takes 50%. I guess I feel like that's preferable than the hassle of ebay, which I've never used to sell anything.

They are exactly the brands I would buy on ebay. I use dress agencies but they require dry cleaned clothes and keep at least 40%.
Let me know what size they are and I may well buy them if you pop them on ebay ;0)

The thing about ebay is that I've literally never sold anything on there before, so I don't have any feedback, so surely people wouldn't buy without that? Or maybe I'm overthinking it and I should just give it a go!

You don't need feedback to buy on ebay, but, as you say, the time and hassle factor can be a major issue. I've never made what I'd consider a reasonable amoun for anything but maybe you'll do better.

I just give it all to charity now - found the dress agencies too condescending.

I hock my stuff on eBay. It's easy once you get into the swing of it.

I used to sell through a dress agency on there but the owner turned out to be extremely rude totally bonkers

You need to have a decent camera and it's best to send everything recorded.

Once you have 100% pos feedback behind you, people will bid higher for your stuff.

Sadly that size won't fit me - rats.
Definitely ebay though. Good quality stuff will sell, but agree with good photos and give clear descriptions.
I have recently paid around £5 for postage and that seems to be standard.
Good luck

ha i used this one in Berko years ago but it was easier then! I didn't do brilliant but ok. Back then they'd take unusual/ pretty/ quirky stuff if it wasn't a well known brand (ie boutiquey stuff I guess)... I went in the other day and they'd changed hands and it's all about the brands now.. fair enough...I do have some of the brands you said but summer clothes.. am guessing yours are all winter..good luck... I noticed there's an agency in ST Albans too.. personally I'm going to try eBay again before I go back to an agency
