I'm not sure there's much to do about skin break outs, I think its something that some women are prone to when they have PMT. Pay attention to your diet and make sure you're not eating too much sugar etc etc....easier said than done I know.

Perhaps treat yourself to a manicure and or pedicure, a salon one if you can run to it or pamper yourself at home. My aunt told me that her local college who have students on hair and beauty courses will offer treatments for a fraction of the price and she has always been delighted with the results as they take so much time and trouble.

Looking better: I find that Bravura London 15% Glycolic Night Treatment stops spots from developing - I always use it a week before I'm due to get PMT for that reason Smile. I also agree with Stripey's advice about cutting down on refined sugar - minimising dairy and alcohol consumption also helps, IME. For your hair, try Wella Shockwaves mousse, combed through while it's wet, and then brushed out when dry. Also, make an effort with make-up if you don't normally.

Feeling better: gentle exercise is really good - try a zumba or pilates DVD, or maybe swimming or jogging if you feel up to it. It makes me feel horrible during, but much better for the rest of the day. Eat well - fresh fruit and veg, eggs, rare steak... And get some sunshine - it always makes me feel better Smile.

I have come round to admitting defeat a bit and not beating myself up about the fact that I look and feel crappy on my period...some of itis psychological, I think, and it helps to remind myself of that when I look in the mirror and go 'urgh!' Grin

small things that help for me:

Bubble baths every night.

I give myself a face massage with rose facial oil at night after cleansing. Rose is very soothing to the nervous system, and my skin drinks it up.

I drink loads more fluids - water, herbal tea, juice - as my period tends to dehydrate me, adding to shite skin and low mood.

Cold cucumber or other cooling eye mask for 5 mins in the morning to combat puffy, tired eyes.

Berocca or other fizzy vitamin drink in the mornings after brekkie.

Treats of any kind - nice food, good films, favourite music, Manicure, massage, early night etc
