Winter boots?

I have done something amazing! I have managed to get all my christmas shopping done without touching any of the money i saved up in preparation, so i have decided to treat myself to a good pair of winter boots.

have been lusting after real ugg boots for ages but not sure if they are worth it and will die in the rain. also, my savings card is limited to where i can spend it- so next/house of fraser/debenhams are the main places.

anyone have any reccomendations? budget is more or less £150.

Can you get to a TK Maxx and spend the gift card on something else? Outlet stores are much better value than standard shops and you can get all sorts of other things (school uniform/bedlinen) with the gift card....

(Jst saying that cos TK Maxx got all their winter boot stock in a few weeks ago when I was in there to shoe the DCs... If you're miles away from one it's less useful info!)

I second TK Maxx. I saw some fantastic super-high-quality boots reduced from 500 quid down to 100 the last time I was there (I am aware that a lot of their discounts are a bit iffy, but these were a legit top end brand, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with them).

If anyone is browsing this thread thinking "150 quid on boots - in my dreams Sad". I rather fancy the Lidl 14 quid leather ankle boots they're getting in this week - derailing I know, but I had a desperate need to share.

But if I were you I'd plump for the new Ugg leather waterproof range - they look lovely, warm, within your budget and suitable for a UK winter.
Here for example

TK Maxx is miles away from me :( well there is one nearish (40 miles) but it's quite small, usually crap and no good brands in it. thanks for the replies though ladies Smile

My usual budget for shoes is less than £20- i spent last year with wet feet alternating between three pairs of primark "ugg" boots at different stages of deterioration. but since i worked and saved hard i feel i have earned dry feet this year Grin . usually i'd spend it on practical stuff for DS but he hasn't long had his room kitted out and has had new winter coat/wellies and shoes last month.

i may have a gander at the lidl ones as a reserve for walks etc so the good ones dont end up wrecked though.

if i get uggs id prefer the original sort of style i think, but will abandon that hope if they melt in the rain.

any more suggestions?

My ultimate boots are fly london. They do some lovely styles. I think its fly london mes I usually get. Beware though, the older versions arent water resistant but there latest ones are. I havent had a problem with. Next boots are also quite good. Their new catalogue is out. They still have boots in it. Not sure about the sale stock. I live in boots. Dont like uggs personally. I have a pair of harley davidson biker boots thst I live in atm.

I have some Fly London boots. They are amazing. Way, way, way more than I had ever spent on footwear before but my mum got them for me as a combined Christmas/birthday present a couple of years ago. They are soft and lovely, wide enough for my fat feet and still looking great. I treat them with some proper stuff the nice man in the shop sold me along with the boots (very good independent place so he knew what he was talking about). He also pointed out the construction of the sole to me when I bought them and said they are great boots because they can be easily resoled.

I also own a pair of lined wellies from Lidl for muddier, child related outdoorsness eg park, puddle jumping rugby training etc.

I desperately want some truly waterproof, non-hiking boots. Have tried both Clarks and Ecco as they both do a couple of pairs that are goretex lined in a casual or smart/casual style but they don't fit and / or the style isn't right.
Anyone know of any other brands I should look at please?
I usually buy Clarks or Jones long boots and spray them but it doesn't make them waterproof enough and I'm sick of wet feet!
