Brogues for wide feet?

Now it's getting chilly (and wet) my ballet flats aren't practical but I don't want to go to boots just yet. I'd quite like a pair of round-toed brogues, but have wide feet with a high instep. I tried on a nice Red or Dead pair today but could tell before the assistant got them out the box they weren't going to fit and I suspect the Clarks Hamble Oak will be the same, as the last pair of shoes I got from Clarks cripple my feet despite looking like they should be comfy. Anyone come across wider fitting ones? I don't mind if they are chunky in style but suspect men's brogues might be a step too far at my age (40s).

New Look do wide fitting shoes and I have definitely seen leather brogues in there. If you look at their online store, they have a wider selection and some shoes come in extra wide fit as well as wide fit.

I've got really wide feet & I've got the Clarks Hamble brogues in tan & a mushroom colour. They do them in wide fit but not always in stock in store (only found this out after looking online). I asked in store & they ordered me in an 8 wide, a 9, and a 9 wide so I could try them , and I've never been able to cram my fat hooves into Clarks shoes from the in store selection so that may be worth a try :)

Ah that's interesting Annie, maybe I'll order some to try then. One, I had no idea New Look did actual leather, thought it was all faux, so I've learned something new and useful, thank you. Their brogues don't look round toed though (on the website anyway), more pointy so I think this time I'll have to try elsewhere.

Have spotted some gorgeous burgundy Bertie ones in John Lewis but have never tried Bertie shoes and there isn't a wide fitting, anyone know about their sizing?

I have the Clarks Hamble Oaks in tan, wide fit, and if anything they're a little too wide - they seem to assume that wide feet also means massive ankles so they're a bit gapey around the top. Apart from that they are supremely comfy though, more so than any similar ones I tried on at the time.

I also have wide feet and a high instep and can't usually get my feet into standard Clarks shoes, but I have the Clarks Hamble in a wide fit and they are fine.
