Has anyone had 'true' invisible mending done?

i.e. the kind where threads taken from a hem etc. are woven by hand to match the material?

Can you recommend anywhere?

Are you talking about darning to cover a hole, or just to re-sew a hem? For the latter I hand stitch with invisible thread. It might be worth asking in Arts and Crafts as someone there might be able to do it for you...

I have used this company. It was a perfect repair, a small right angled tear and you could not see it at all. However it cost over £100 (cannot remember exactly) but it was a Paul Smith suit worth a lot more as well as well loved. A couple of years ago too.

Yes--years ago in Ewell (surrey). No idea if tailor is still there.

Thanks for the help. Seems like it's dying out. I have moth holes in vintage wool, more than one.

Had a cigarette burn a hole on the shoulder of my good wool/ cashmere coat - took it to the Invisible Mending shop on Thayer St in Marylebone. They did a perfect job- literally can't tell which shoulder was mended. If you have a good piece or something cherished it is totally worth it. I think it was around £50 and I didn't have to buy a new winter coat.

I was going to recommend the invisible menders in Marylebone too.

Another recommendation for Invisible Mending in Marylebone. I had a hole repaired in a wool jumper and the repair they did was amazing - literally cannot see where it was now.
