rainbowfeet · 30/10/2013 13:14

I have very dark circles under my eyes so use an under eye concealer several times a day.. I am happy-ish with the one I use but was curious to know if anyone had found a wonder product..
Other than Touch Eclait as I can't afford to use that everyday!! Confused

Thank you

you need to start with a good base as you shouldn't need to reapply.

you a heavy coverage foundation eg revlon colour stay.
use a lighter concealer than your foundation eg revlon again is a good choice as a heavy coverage.
draw in a triangle shape (along under eye, down the side of the nose and back up to corner of eye.
blend well & wear powder on top to stop make up melting off.

a highlighting powder/light godly colour eyeshadow being applied at the top of your cheek bones will lighten this area also.

hope this helps

Honestly, Collection2000 concealer for £4.19 is the best thing I have ever bought. I usually spend lots of £££ on make up but this concealer is great.

I usually put it on under my foundation looks natural with great coverage.

Clargo55 · 30/10/2013 13:33

Killpeppa has good advice also.
Revlon colour stay foundation is ace!

willowash · 30/10/2013 15:12

The revlon foundation is great and the collection 2000 concealer is the best i have used. Iv got really bad dark circles and recently bought a product from avon its in an orange tube and its helped a lot with them. Youtube has some great reviews on concealer too if you have a better budget then poor old me Smile

MAC all the way, expensive but lasts a long time imo

Have a wee look at this link. She uses a lot of products but I've just started using her tip of Benefit High Beam on the dark circles before foundation or concealer and I've noticed a difference....

I imagine any highlighter with a similar consistency and colour to High Beam would work so no need to spend the £££. I luckily had one from ages ago in my make up bag that I'd gave up on as I didn't like it.

I like Wake Me Up by Rimmel - has had good press too.

Rummiwerewolfkub · 31/10/2013 22:47

Aldi lacura is a good copy of touche eclat. 3 different shades. £3 ish, bargain.

HomerPigeon · 01/11/2013 06:28

Nars creamy concealer is excellent for covering dark circles

I don't rate Touche éclat or knock-offs as they are too light-reflecting and draw attention to the area - I use those more as a highlighter if at all.

SundaySimmons · 01/11/2013 06:57

Avoid Bobbi brown, I once stood in front of a mirror in A department store with two yellow stripes under my eyes with an orange Bobbi brown assistant telling me that I looked great!

I used to use touché éclat for years then discovered the collection 2000 one and it is by far the best.

Rummikub · 01/11/2013 08:38

Does the collection 2000 come in different shades? I loved touche eclat but can't afford anymore, the aldi one does a good job.

GlassesDontSuitMe · 01/11/2013 09:15

Another vote for the collection 2000. I have tried them all Mac, Bobbi brown, Benefit etc and this wins hands down.

A make up artist once told me that if dark circles are really dark rather than go for a light shade of concealer, often a darker one covers them better. It certainly works in my case, i have hideous genetic dark circles.

I use the Deep shade of collection 2000 (the one with the wand) under my foundation and they are almost invisible.

UsedToBeNDP · 01/11/2013 09:21

Touche éclat isn't a concealer, it's a highlighter pen, so it won't give you the coverage you want for dark circles. You need a true concealer (I like the NARS creamy concealer) first and then you can add 'light' to brighten with your touche éclat type product afterwards.

The Bourjois one in the tube is ok as a cheaper substitute to the ££ NARS but I do find it a bit more 'creasy' after a couple of hours, whereas the NARS is immaculate and the colours are fab.

UsedToBeNDP · 01/11/2013 09:22

Ah, I see I've pretty much parroted Homer Blush

UsedToBeNDP · 01/11/2013 09:24

FWIW, I don't like the Collection stuff. The colours and the texture are abysmal on my skin.

Rummikub · 01/11/2013 09:33

So I have olive skin and dark circles, dry ish skin, so am wary of products that don't stay immaculate. Would collection 2000 be ok?

Rummikub · 01/11/2013 09:34

How does going darker work? Confused

UsedToBeNDP · 01/11/2013 09:36

I find it quite dry and cakey when it sets. It's cheap enough to give it a go though, I'd say.

The NARS is moist and creamy enough to move around and sit nicely but not so wet that it slides off or into any fine lines.

southeastastra · 01/11/2013 09:39

lately been using clinque all about eyes and you only need a tiny bit, i think it will last for 10 years Grin
also like the smashbox camera ready tubey thing

used to like the tesco make up one but it's a bit thick

LordPalmerston · 01/11/2013 09:39

bobbi brown tinted eye thingy pen

Rummikub · 01/11/2013 09:44

How much is nars? I walked away from the aldi one at first because I couldn't justify £3 on an error! (Yes things are that tight, but I don't want to look like a panda!)

SlinkyB · 01/11/2013 09:46

Just like to throw the Garnier caffeine roller ball under-eye dark circles product into the bag of recommendations. Just don't get it on your clothes as it stains . And buy it half price in Superdrug for about a fiver.

Plenty of options for you to try then OP! Smile

GlassesDontSuitMe · 01/11/2013 09:48

Rummi I don't know how going darker works but it does, just a darker shade than you would normally use.

My biggest problem with concealers is that under my eyes is quite dry and crepey and I find that they cake. I haven't had a problem with collection 2000.

Rummikub · 01/11/2013 09:53

Thanks glasses I think I might go have a play with the testers in boots.

UsedToBeNDP · 01/11/2013 10:07

NARS is about £25 there or thereabouts, so a bit steep and worth checking out cheaper options first.

Often it's not nec "darker" that makes the difference but if you get the right colour (which may well be darker). A corrector that is a salmony colour will neutralise blue circles (to do with colour theory) and even though it might look scary in the pot, it should work if you have got the right tone for your shade of circle. It's why benefit's erase paste looks so terrifying in the pot! You need a teeny bit and then you can add a little fdtn or concealer in your "face colour" to normalise. Keep to thin layers to avoid it all getting too much on your delicate under eye area.

It sounds like a lot of faff, doesn't it? Tbh, I wouldn't bother unless you were really bothered by very dark circles. Most people can get away with just a decent concealer on their under eyes.
