Babyliss Big Hair or Soft Waves?

I'm thinking of getting DD one of these for Christmas, but not sure which one. She has mid length, slightly wavy hair that she straightens for every day, but she loves to rock a retro 40's/50's look when she goes out.

Would either of these gadgets help her to achieve the right hairstyles (victory rolls etc?). Advice from anyone with any experience of either would be much appreciated.

Hi, I have the Babyliss Big Hair and have shoulder length, fine hair, with very light layers. In my experience it doesn't create curls or waves, just gives a smooth finish to my hair. So if she wants anything wavy or curly, I wouldn't buy it. I haven't used the soft waves, so can't comment. Anyway, hope that helps a bit.

I would have thought youd need heated rollers for 40s/50s
I aim for Farrah Fawcett with my babyliss big hair (usual HQ disclaimers apply)

I have the Perfect Curl gadget and use it to do waves and curls as can get quite a good retro look by taking big sections at a time and doing a loose wave.

Thanks for your replies. I think she does use rollers, I just thought one of these might be quicker. I'll have a look at the Perfect Curl.
