Makeup for oily skin

Everyday I put on eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara (and curl my eyelashes), lip liner and lipstick, tinted moisturiser occasionally. By lunchtime I look as if I haven't got any makeup on! My skin is slightly oily, is this the reason why?

I need to buy some new makeup, anyone else had this problem and can make some recommendations? Or is it that all makeup needs redoing during the day? I realise lipstick isn't going to stay on after eating/drinking, but would like the rest to stay put. Would prefer makes that are vaguely ethical if possible. Thankyou for any help!

It's very likely to be the reason why the makeup disappears. But it could also be caused by using skincare that is too oily for your skin.

Are you using products for oily skin? Which moisturiser do you use?

I have oily skin and I use Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, Diorskin Nude or Laura Mercier oilfree tinted moisturiser - depending on amount of coverage and finish. They last well on my oily skin.
I set the foundation/tinted moisturiser with a loose powder (pressed works too).

I use Maybelline gel eyeliner, which lasts well for me. It's this one: www.feelunique.com/p/Maybelline-New-York-Eyestudio-Lasting-Drama-Gel-Eyeliner-24h-Intense-Black

You can get primers for eyelids. I don't have a lot of experience with them though - I've tried one from NYX and one from Smashbox and the Smashbox one is good.
I do find that some eyeshadows last better than others - for me, Mac lasts well.
You could also try the creamy eyeshadows that set, such as Maybelline Colour Tattoo, Charlotte Tilbury has some too.

Matte lipsticks tend to last longer than more creamy/moisturising ones. Applying them with a brush (and with 2-3 coats) and blotting inbetween coats can also make them last much longer than if just applying directly from the bullet.

As far as I'm aware, animal tested products are no longer allowed to be sold in the EU as per this article: europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-13-210_en.htm

Yes I use minerals foundation. The best foundation I've ever used. I stopped using it briefly and switched back to a tinted moisturiser but I could feel the oil on my face within two hours!!

Have a look at this website by the make up artist Lisa Elridge
She has great tips for oily skin, and also some of her videos are brilliant if you have acne, or marks and discolouration in your skin from the ghosts of pimples past.

I use a light Chanel foundation in summer, a heavier Chanel one in winter and sometimes lily lolo mineral foundation over liquid foundation for a face that lasts hours.

But, sadly, IME foundations won't last more than a few hours on me, as my skin is so very oily, so, I retouch with foundation on my T zone and dust on powder.

I'm using primer now as well, which certainly makes a difference on my eyelids. And I lightly dust over a mineral shadow (the same shade if possible) over my eye liner, so it doesn't crease too much.

I'm not a fan of the completly solid face of makeup, with nothing budging, and Lisa Elridge is very good on tips on how to look like yourself, whilst covering up the 'worst' bits, without looking like an Aunt Sally.

Thankyou all for your replies. I have been looking out for Bare Minerals but haven't found anywhere selling it. Do they have their own shops or concessions in department stores?

I don't have any any spots or scars to cover, but do worry that foundation will stick to the lovely downy fluff I have on my chin/side of face (how to remove it could be a whole separate thread I'm sure).

Sounds like primer under eyeshadow is the way to go then. I haven't tried gel eyeliner either, can you get a soft look with that?

I will look at Lisa's website, I think I may have looked before a long time ago, when she used to do the make up on that make over programme.
