Have you tried Clarkes? I noticed something advertised with a wider fitting calf. I've no idea if this comes with a wider shoe though and therefore if it would fit. I have trouble with knee boots as I have well developed calf muscles but am a size 12 with slim feet and ankles and the "wider fitting" boots I've tried have been like wellies from the calf down. I've yet to try Clarkes though or in fact M&S who I think I now remember seeing do the same thing. I think you'd get a pair of leather boots at either for around £100.

Dr martens on amazon or elsewhere. They do a very good wedge heel boots in lots of colours mostly about £100 plus sign up for clothing emails get 20% off amazon.

Have you looked at the Fly London wedge boots OP?
They look like they're pretty generous in the calf area, not sure about price though.
My friend has 2 pairs now (brown and black), is never out of them, and looks great!

AlternativeMoniker53 · 26/10/2013 13:01

These get very good reviews re the calf fit. Not wedges though, how important is that?

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 26/10/2013 13:27

I need heels by due to school run walks etc need to be wedged with good bottoms.

Not having much luck :( Dr Martens ones are just vile,Clarkes have nothing, all I've found so far is the M&S footglove ones.I'm 31,worried about frump town!

Better go exercise these calves for shrinkage...

What are the bottoms like on them earlesswonder ? The main reason for wedges was because they are more likely to have a rubber and grippy bottom.I do like those though, only have standard width feet though, hmm, how wide are the calves on them?

Don't dismiss M&S though, those footglove shoes are extremely comfortable! I used to work in a hospital and everyone wore them for standing all day. No one need know where you bought them!

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 26/10/2013 14:14

These are the M&S footglove ones www.marksandspencer.com/Footglove-Leather-Wedge-Boots-Stretch/dp/B00DCIM5E6

I'm just not sure if they're a little on the frumpier side and how they'd look with leggings or tights and my merrell geraldine!

I just bought these from Matalan the other day. They are really comfy wedge boots and are leather. They seem to be quite loose on my calves, and I think mine are large. They come in brown and black. I got the brown ones for a change.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 26/10/2013 14:23

LongDistance you couldn't do me a favour and measure the calf of them, could you?

OP posts:
Longdistance · 26/10/2013 14:39

Hi, they're 16" at the widest, so just over 40cm. It also has that bit of elastic for a bit of stretch.

JohnnyUtah · 26/10/2013 14:40

The Fly ones are narrow on the calves, I have two pairs.

OwlMother · 26/10/2013 14:43

My friend has these in tan- they're lovely. Such nice quality- they look way pricier than they are.

OwlMother · 26/10/2013 14:44

I meant to add- she has fairly chunky calves and they had space to spare around the top.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 26/10/2013 14:58

Ooh,if they were brown and a little cheaper I'd have jumped on them! They're lovely

Ooh,just noticed you said she has them in tan.wonder if I can find them cheaper

The M&S ones get great reviews including saying they look better on than in the photo, perhaps give them a go? They tick all your boxes and you can rely on their returns service.

accessorizequeen · 26/10/2013 16:44

That's a pretty rude response to my suggestion IMO.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 26/10/2013 18:39

If the returns service is good I'll give the M&S ones a shot then Smile

OP posts:
Jbck · 26/10/2013 19:04

I like the M&S ones.

I find a wedge looks a bit frumpier than a heel so they will all look a bit frumpy, but these are no more so than any others.

It depends on how big your calves really are in relation to your shoe size, if I took a 5 in a shoe boots would be fine on me and Im a size 14 but I have size 3 feet so always struggle with boots as manufacturers tend to think you have childlike legs if your feet are that size.

Earless wonder check your pm's, I sent you a message about said ears ;)
