Those asymmetrical hairstyles..

Like Frankie Sandford of The Saturdays. Could I pull it off (aged 38 with 3 small children and a somewhat less pleasing face)? Or would I "be in danger of looking like a sexually disoriented teenager", to quote my DH, whose opinion I mistakenly canvassed.

Personally I'm not a fan, because to me they always look like half a haircut! Also you'd need to have very regular cuts to keep it sharp and I suspect growing it out would be hard work.

However.. it's your hair :) Enjoy whatever style you fancy! I'm sure you wouldn't look like a sexually disorinetated teen !!!!

A few women in work in their 40s have it and I don't think they can pull it off. But I think it's because we work in an office and its a style that doesn't suit office wear.

I'm not very adventurous, so it could be not my taste. But in saying that, the ladies who have it, love it and that's all that matters. If you want it, go for it.

Phil Oakey looked better than the girl from the Saturdays.

To me it looks like you went to have your hair cut then there was a fire in the salon and you had to leave with only half your hair cut!

But if you think it suits you, then go for it. I wouldn't say its a style just for young people in particular.

Personally I cannot deal with asymmetry. Not even in skirts so definitely not with hair.

I know several people who it looks fine on though.

Try it but a bit longer than you would like it and if not you can always have it evened out.

My hairdresser talked me into one, on the grounds that if I hated it (as I really thought I would) he'd immediately cut it all off.

I loved it... was about 35 with quite a round face. I got loads of compliments; it felt grown-up but funky (I had it a bit longer and styled it quite sleek-ly as I have fine hair). I got bored after about a year but was thinking recently about growing it again, and that would be what I'd be aiming for...

Hmm. Good idea to try it long. Think that's what I will do. Got 2 weeks off soon so will get it done at the start and then book a back up appt for the end of the fortnight... I'm such a chicken!

I had one for yeaaaaars (I'm growing it ATM Hmm)
I loved it, easy to manage and wasn't hard to upkeep.
every so often I just cut the 'mullet' bit myself as it tends to grow quicker than the rest
