On these to go with this
I have a plain black shirt dress which I love, but I can't seem to get the feet right, always end up wearing knee high boots. Would the shoe boots go well with the shirt dresses and opaques?

I'm sorry, i really don't like those shoes. I do think a shoe boot would work well, though. I can't link on this but clarks have lots of nice ones in.

mirpuppet · 24/10/2013 19:44

If you like it go for it.

LeoandBoosmum · 24/10/2013 19:50

Yep, I'm sorry but I don't like the shoes either (that style in general, for me, does not do anything for a woman's legs...they look awkward, clumpy and unflattering). I like this style for what you describe:
www.asos.com/Sam-Edelman/Sam-Edelman-Petty-Ankle-Boots/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=1774475&SearchQuery=sam%20eidelman&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=36&sort=-1&clr=Black

Here is a cheaper, pretty similar pair if like the Sam Eidelman's but they're too costly:

I just ordered these (Ash Spiral boots, similar to the Jalouse style):
I believe they're deeper and darker in real life (hope so!)
www.thackerays.co.uk/designer-womenswear/items/ash-spiral-prune-boots-51508.aspx

They do them in a sludgy brown grey with goes with everything/ or black. There are some second hand ones (also some bought new and unworn) on Ebay that may be worth checking out if you like them)?

Shoe boots are a good idea but I'm afraid I'm not keen on the ones you linked to. Too much happening, it's like they can't decide if they're a fancy shoe boot, a wedge or a clumpy snow boot. I'd go with a more elegant, streamlined style of shoe boot with that dress, if it were me.

talkingnonsense · 24/10/2013 19:52

To contrast, I would go for a much chunkier ankle boot, more like this- I really f

Sorry! Don't like the Edelman ones- prefer this sort of thing:

To me the dress is soft and feminine and the boots look a bit orthopaedic and more suitable to be worn with jeans.

I like the dress.

Financeprincess · 24/10/2013 22:58

Don't buy the M&S boots, they look like hooves! I'd go for a shoe boot with a slim heel with the dress. Might not work with your lifestyle though.

Bunbaker · 24/10/2013 23:01

"Don't buy the M&S boots, they look like hooves!"

Grin They do don't they. Clip clop

LeoandBoosmum · 25/10/2013 00:03

Hi Talkingnonsense, I like the boots you suggested but think that dress requires something more feminine...

LeoandBoosmum · 25/10/2013 00:06

If you want a shoe boots with a slim heel, Clarks has these and I think they're 20% off... (there is a code knocking about for the 20% off)

for 20% off Clarks' (full price, I think) until about the 3rd of November :)

WildThongsHeartString · 26/10/2013 00:15

leo those Clark's boots are lovely!
Just to update, the dress arrived today but it's going back. Like so much M&S stuff, it was nearly right but just not. The sleeves were tight round the top of the arms but the body was looseish and a bit shapeless. Also was just a tad short, that length guaranteed to make your knees look fatter than they are. Sigh, back to the drawing board.
