Eyebrow waxing disaster! Urgent assistance needed!

It's my own fault. I use a retinoid and you're not supposed to wax treated skin, however I read somewhere on the internet that if you discontinue use 'for a few days' it's ok. So I didn't use my retin-a for 48 hours and thought it would be alright. It wasn't.

I now have red raw skin where the top layer has been completely ripped off and I look like I have a serious case of chem burn. What to do, what to do? I'm going away on Friday and need to look vaguely human.

I've been using some sudocreme, but am unsure whether to keep the area moisturised and supple, or whether to let it dry up and scab?

Please help Sad

Apply sudocrem

Oh just seen you've done that already! No idea then, that's what I would do. It will calm down.

I would just keep it clean, I would be wary of any creams that were likely to irritate 100% aloe vera gel may be your friend have you bathed it in cool water?

Personally, I'd use some La Roche-Posay Cicaplast or Cicaplast Baume B5.

I've used it for burns and when my skin has been damaged by the frost and wind during winter, and it's been great. My DH has also used it for burns and he has been very happy with it.

It's a restorative/barrier cream for skin that's been laser-treated and has healing and anti-bacterial properties. It's not a moisturiser and shouldn't be use every single day on healthy skin - but it's perfectly fine to use on damaged skin while it's healing.

Avene also has a version called Cicalfate.

Just be careful what you put on it ! I had top lip and eyebrows waxed probably 6 months ago . Suspect that the wax was too hot and maybe beautician a bit too energetic with her technique because afterwards skin on my top lip was very sore and red, almost like the top layer of skin had been removed in the process.I plastered various things on it just to relieve the discomfort including sudoceme, coconut oil but then a couple of weeks later ended up with numerous little white heads covering the whole area [thishock] took ages to go bit think prob due to follicles getting blocked with product ? Maybe aloa Vera better ?

Thanks everyone. I have some Avene rich recovery cream (bought to manage side effects of initial retinoid use) and some Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. Perhaps those might be suitable.

If I can avoid it becoming an unslightly scab that would be good. Redness can be concealed in an emergency but dry scabby skin can't. It's stopped stinging when I apply anything now at least.

Aloe vera or this

Treat as a burn as could be classed as chemical burn so be very careful what to put on it!

nomorebooze · 23/10/2013 16:42

really I think you should go to docs as its not just a simple burn! I really feel for you and hope it looks better before you go away, just don't try to may things as it will make it worse!
