Hi all
I'm just back to work after maternity leave for DC2. She's still not sleeping through so my sensitive skin is playing up and I don't look my best! Does anyone have any advice re what foundation is good for sensitive skin? Is mineral good?
Thanks :)

I have a friend who suffers terribly with eczema prone skin & she swears by the bare minerals powder foundations. I must say she always looks clear skinned & glowing. They do a slightly illuminating powder to go over the foundation called mineral veil which gives her the glow. There are a lot of colours to chose from to get the perfect match so you should go to a department store that stocks it & get them to match you :-)

I have sensitive skin and HATE mineral foundation.
Is it just prone to eczema or do you actually have it? Any foundation over the top of eczema will not look great to be honest. I find chanel vitalumiere works okay when my skin is on the dry side.

I have eczema and have also got very sensitive skin. I use Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. On good days I use it over my normal moisturiser and on flaky flare-up days I mix it with my moisturiser.

I used to have and had to avoid anything with perfume.

I found Clinique good and Boots No 7 is hypoallergenic.

I'd avoid Lancome ( too much perfume and alcohol) ditto some of Clarins, but Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown and Nars are perfume free and there are many formulations for dry skins.

I do actually have eczema but it comes and goes. When I don't have it, my skin tends to be sensitive, so I can come up all red and blotchy. I have really unattractive dry red inflamed skin round my lips - I think it's from overuse of steroid creams - which I'm seeing my GP about later this week. It doesn't tend to be flaky, more red, inflamed sore and itchy.
Thanks for the suggestions :) I'll go and have a look.

Be careful with mineral makeup (powders) that contain Bismuth Oxychloride - it can give some really awful reactions. I and several friends have had reactions to it - itchy skin and painful massive deep spots/cysts on the jawline.

You could try something like Vichy and La Roche-Posay.

Hypoallergenic doesn't really mean anything.

I can't recommend a foundation but have you tried bephethan, the nappy rash cream, on your excema?
I used to use steriod creams now need only that and apply it on the prone area every morning and evening before make up.

I second Clinique.

Thanks all. I just bought the Chanel one so will see how it goes. Never tried bepanthan, will give it a go - is it soothing?. How about sudocream, is that any good? Think I've heard of it for eczema too.

We use Sudocrem on DS' eczema whenever his skin looks broken, it suits him.

Ohwhatacrapmasfear · 23/10/2013 02:50

I have tried sudocreme on my eczema but didn't find it did much at all. I have also overused steroid creams on my face which I think has contributed to the sensitivity. I've recently changed my moisturiser to La Roche-Posay baume b5 after reading recommendations on here. It is really soothing, doesn't sting at all but above all leaves my skin feeling deeply moisturised with no tightness. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Hope you get on with the Chanel op Halloween Smile

I really like Rimmel "Wake me up" Foundation. I have eczema on my eyelids which in Winter needs prescription steroid cream & it doesn't irritate it at all. HTH.

How did you get on with the Chanel foundation? - I'm in the same boat and looking for something good... Thanks x
