Shellac etc

I'm going away for a few days and don't want to take nail polish. I'm thinking of going for shellac or similar but...
A) Will it last? I can chip ordinary polish in hours!
B) I don't do manicures! Will it take ages?
C) Is it a complete nightmare to get off and will it wreck my nails?

Shouldn't chip doing day to day stuff as isn't hard more rubbery in texture if that makes sense...

Super quick as dries in minutes under a light, but takes a few coats bottom a few of the colour and a top coat.

Don't just peel them off and you'll be fine get the soaked off or soak them off with acetone yourself at home.

I had my first shellac last Tuesday for my party on Saturday night. It's bright red and no obvious chips yet despite doing normal day to day stuff and moving our chicken house round the garden on Sunday!

Took about 45 minutes perhaps?

No idea about removal - I was told to either but pure acetone from Boots or go back to the salon and they will remove it and condition my nails for £5

A) provided its done by somebody who knows what they're doing, yes, it'll last...for up to a fortnight.
B) it should take around 45 minutes, maybe a little more if you decide you want some nail art or something.
C) around where I live it's the norm for the removal to be included in the initial cost. So, you go back to the salon, they soak off the shellac, and will normally give your nails a wee file, and a bit of solar oil massaged in. If you go down the road of picking it off yourself, then it could indeed wreck your nails!

Thanks little cloud. So if I wanted them removed and then chose to go back to bare nails or normal polish then I could?

Yes of course it's not like acrylics or gel extensions where you have the top layer of your nails filed off. It's like regular polish just clever technology that allows it to dry almost instantaneously with a slightly different texture to nail polish so it allows your nails to breath better under the polish & not chip. (But may start to lift after a few weeks)

I had a shellac pedicure on 5th Oct, and it's been fab. Not a chip or a blemish on them so far....t'was a beautiful job.

See now I want my toes done too!

Isn't there a skin cancer concern, given that you repeatedly dry your skin under intense UV lights when the nail varnis sets?

I had my fingernails Shellac'd recently (about an hour). It was perfect for a week, then one of them chipped a bit. However as I had them done for half price, no worries!

When I had them gell'd, (about 45mins - those lovely Thai ladies are fast!) it lasted over 3 weeks with no chipping and I only took it off because they were massively growing out.

I can do my own toenails with OPI and it always lasts 3 weeks or until I am bored with the colour!

I love shellac!!

Had my shellac fingernails for about 10 days now. My record is about 3 and a half weeks.

Soak in acetone to remove ( you have to ask behind pharmacy counter for it, bout 1 pound fifty)

They should take about 35 plus minutes to be done
