Nose job - I've only gone and done it

After years of wanting one I had my nose done yesterday at a Transform clinic. Very professional place, lovely nurses - and food;) I'm nearly 41 and have hated the bump on my nose for a long time. Finally had a rhinoplasty yesterday. Felt great following surgery, nothing too uncomfortable and the bruising was minimal. Obviously massive change overnight and I now have the black eyes and swollen cheeks etc. not my best look. I had open surgery which means I have stitches under my septum.
I'm taking arnica, ibruprofen and co-codamol. Definitely more uncomfortable tonight, behind my ears is tender ??? I'm wondering if this is having my head rocked about whilst doc was filing off my bump??!!
Just wondering if anyone who has had a rhinoplasty could tell me how long before they felt they looked ok to be out and about without gathering too many stares etc. back at work 6 November. 3 weeks? Has anyone any recovery stories/tips.
I'm sure it's going to be worth it but I look a sorry sight at the minute!!!

My sister had exactly what you describe - a bump at the top of her nose filed off. She looked ok with heavy makeup after two weeks, by 3/4 weeks she looked fine bruise-wise. It took another month or so for her nose to 'settle'. The tip of her nose pointed up kind of - I could sort of see up her nostrils a bit and was a bit worried. So, don't be alarmed f it doesn't look as you thought it would straight away.

Well done!

I had mine done when I was 22. It was a bit of a blobby beak before then. No stitches, though, it was all done internally.

I felt (and looked) pretty rotten for about ten days, like I had been punched; the worst bit was having the packing removed from my nostrils the day after - like pulling a scarf out of a magician's hat Grin . When I had the beak removed I could immediately see an improvement although it was still quite swollen and bruised. After 3 weeks I was back at university, with lashings of concealer hiding the remnants of my black eyes, and by then the swelling wasn't obvious at all. However, it was still very tender, and I was very cautious about getting a knock, especially when in a crowd. Nose-blowing was tricky too.

It took 2-3 months for the swelling and soreness to completely go. 24 years on, the end of my nose is still numb. Grin

Best thing I ever did (one of, anyway)!
I can now breathe properly - I don't wake at night trying to breathe through a blocked nose.
However, I remember how awful recovery was in not being able to blow my nose and having huge, crusty blood- bogies I was dying to unhinge! Didn't, for ( unwarranted) fear that I'd unhinge my new nose!
Took about 3 weeks to calm down I think.
