Boden Ankle boots - am I missing a trick somewhere?

Hello!

So I bought a pair of black Boden ankle boots in a sale, and I love them. I loved them so much I bought them without trying them on - they were in my size and I thought.... live dangerously. I got home, hid them until my DH had left the area (We have no money for ankle boots but damn these are lovely and so, I bought them) and tried them on. Or, I tried to try them on. Because it seems these ankle boots are designed for people with no ankle bones, or heels. I cannot get them on! I have literally tried everything, but I can't get my foot past the leather ankle part into the foot part. I am so close to my lovely ankle boots and being the envy of other mums in the playpark -my ultimate goal - but yet so far. Unless I wear them as they are at the moment, with my toes just touching the sole and my heel bone peeping out the top cuff. It's just not a great look.

They are sort of bikery, black leather, with leather straps held by a buckle round the heel - I think they're called urban biker. I think that they may be last season's though, as I went online to have a look and the urban biker boots on there are a wee bit different.

So my question is to those people who own Boden ankle boots - Am I missing a trick? Is there some sort of secret way of getting these on I don't know about? A secret zip? Or the ability to dislocate and relocate one's ankle on demand? Help me - you are my only hope! Well, otherwise they are going back and I will be very, very sad.

Thank you!

Did you buy them from Boden. They have a really good returns policy imo.
Tell them you bought them awhile ago and only just realised they don't fit now you went to wear them.
I've never had a problem with Boden customer service.

scarlet76 · 14/10/2013 20:44

Have you read any of the reviews on the Boden website to see what others are saying about the fit? I think Boden sizing can be a bit hit and miss so you could try sizing up?

chicaguapa · 14/10/2013 20:45

Can you undo the buckle? (Someone had to ask the obvious question.)

kirriemummy · 14/10/2013 20:47

nope, the buckle's all in one piece as far as I can see! I think I may have to return them. Sob.

Will sound a bit mad but, put your bare foot in a carrier bag and use the slip of that to help get them on. Wear them round the house a few times that way and they should soften up a bit.

kirriemummy · 14/10/2013 21:15

That is a strange but good suggestion. Thank you Grin

Had to resort to this to get new Frye boots on once, glamorous :D

HatticusFinch · 14/10/2013 21:22

I've got the same boots, they are a nightmare. Try pointing your toes down then slide them on. Unfortunately you'll probably do your back in trying to get them off.

Mine have been in a box for a year, tried them on again this morning...I still can't get them on or off without breaking into a sweat! I've given up in them.

PrimalLass · 14/10/2013 21:54

Do you have a high instep? I do and can't get lots of boots on.

Allice · 14/10/2013 22:17

I feel your pain, I bought some ugg kensingtons recently and I can only get one of them on.
I desperately want to wear them but my left foot much be huge and will not go in!

SpookyRestingFace · 14/10/2013 22:21

Shoehorn might help?

I actually remember from the reviews of these boots (I wanted them but couldn't afford at the time) that this was a very common issue people had with them, so you're not alone.

kirriemummy · 14/10/2013 22:54

I have just returned from attempting both the shoehorn and plastic bag tips. No luck. However, although the plastic bags on my feet thing didn't work, DH has forgotten the fact that I've bought boots amidst concerns for my mental health, so on some levels it's was a success.....

Return to Boden they will at least give you a voucher if not all your money back.--

I've sent children's shoes back this year with the same problem, and a got an adult size too just to make sure it was same for me.
It was like trying to put on a pair of wooden shoes....no possible way could we have put the things on,let alone been comfortable wearing them!
