What lovely stylish maternity bits have you bought and worn lots? I want to get SIL something nice for her 30th birthday.

When I was preggers I preferred the styles on offer in places like Topshop, ASOS, H&M etc - I think SIL would be the same.

I'm 33, pregnant and a size 10... so not too far off the mark ;-) You've hit the nail on the head with Topshop, Asos and H&M really. Most of my maternity stuff is from there. A local shop sells 'Mamalicious' maternity clothes and they have some nice stuff. 'Crave maternity' is also nice, but a bit pricey. Gap maternity might be worth a look too.

Or what about jewellery or shoes/boots that she could wear post-baby?

NomDeOrdinateur · 11/10/2013 15:11

I'm not pregnant but I think that, if I was, I'd:

A) be very grateful to have such a kind SIL;
and B) want something that would make me feel slightly attractive in the horrible post-natal in-between period when nothing fits and you're choosing between the top with the "small but obvious stain" and the jumper with the "larger but less obvious stain" when you get dressed...

Maybe a nice wrap-around cardigan from Woolovers that she can wear open during late pregnancy and normally the rest of the time? Oh and pretty scarves are great for pregnancy/breastfeeding.

zippy, is there anything in particular that's been a hero piece for you? Skinny jeans or a little dress?

It would probably make more sense to have something she could wear post-baby for sure. Still, I'd like to get at least one maternity thing (even if it's just a pair of tights) for sil - sometimes it's hard to justify getting nice maternity bits for yourself when the timeframe for wearing them is so short...

I have a pair of H&M skinnies I love and a fab, fab, fab maternity/BFing wrap dress from Babes with Babies called, rather appropriately, the Magic Dress.

(But I'm a size 10)

MyfavcolourisOrange · 11/10/2013 15:45

I'm 30 and a size 8/10 pre-pregnancy. and I couldn't have lived without my Topshop maternity Leigh jeans. I've worn them all the way through to 8 months from about 12 weeks. I also think that a nice bag (perhaps a big tan satchel) would be a lovely gift that will be appreciated now but also handy once baby is here - but then maybe that's just me as I'm hankering after one at the moment! Smile

You sound like a lovely SIL by the way!

Size 6/8 mid 30's and my hero pieces were isabella oliver wrap tops - amazingly flattering and grow with the bump - skinny jeans from h&m

I love that there is both a NomD'Ordinateur and a NomDeClavier on this thread :)

The magic dress from Babes with Babies is great! I saw another lovely dress on that site, the Colette, which I think is quite SIL. However the Colette is breastfeeding only (as opposed to maternity/BF combined) and I don't want it to seem like I'm assuming she WILL be breastfeeding. Will think on the magic dress, thanks for the recommendation.

Some lovely tops from Isabella Oliver too. Maybe I will recruit BIL to help see what bits she needs, he is freakishly good at this kind of thing.

Congratulations to all you pregnant ladies by the way!

Faddy - the Magic dress is lovely, and your SIL is so lucky to have you (I only wish my ILs were as nice to me)!

PS - I wish I'd thought of using NomDeClavier, as it really annoys me that MN won't accept an apostrophe in NomD'Ordinateur. My GCSE French teacher would do this > Hmm < face if she saw the ungrammatical cludge I had to settle for in my username... Blush

It's boring, but the things I wear most are my H&M and topshop leggings and Asos skinny jeans. But, the Asos jeans come up small and I don't think I'll be wearing them for much longer (am 6 months pregnant). I also wear white long-sleeve tops from H&M under most things and have some 3/4 sleeve stripy jersey tops from H&M that I've worn constantly. I have a double-layer tube skirt from topshop in a berry colour that's been really useful too and slightly more dressy than wearing jeans/leggings all the time. I'm not sure if it's still available as I bought it during the summer, but might be worth a look. Topshop is great for dresses too - I'd be very happy with something like this: www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/clothing-427/maternity-456/maternity-navy-wrap-dress-2088950?bi=61&ps=20.

You sound like a fab sister-in-law by the way!
