Ring re-sizing. Rough guide on price

I have a very pretty solitaire (half carat ) in 14ct gold with rodium plating on the prongs.
The shank is very fine (about 2mm) and it's a bit squashed (more oval than round)

If I wanted to resize from a K to an M , bear in mind the £££ of gold and the work involved, what would be the rough price?

I'm just wondering if it's worth doing or should I just save it for my tiny fingered DD when she's older?

TIA

No idea about price, but I, too have some jewellery which is far too small for me and I am saving for dd. I love wearing and using things that have been handed down to me, especially when they have a story attached (eg the item that my dm gave me when one of my dc was born was given to her by my df when I was born).

BTW just take it to a couple of jewellers and ask them!

I needed to go down six sizes. Went to high street jewellers who all said £250 and send it away for two weeks. Went to the guy on hatton garden who made it and £50 on the spot and left less than half an hour later. Shop around

Shock @ £250.

I've had a ring downsized years ago and I can't remember how much it was (about £20) but then the jeweller keeps the gold.

The amount of gold I'd need who be minimal though but I know gold prices are high.

I'll take it to a few shops but I think DD might inherit it Grin

I dropped a ring in to be resized at my local jewellers yesterday, funnily enough also from a K to M. It is 18 ct gold and he is charging £38 and it will take a week.

Oooh, is it an independant jeweller or a High St chain type Sticky ?

Little independent jewellers. I use them for bits and pieces all the time so I know they are reliable for basic repairs etc.
