it's such a good job I've got dh around as my style guru. ok ladies what kind of cossie will you be sporting this summer and why? what suits you? do tankinis draw attention to your worst bits (according to dh they make my boobs look small and give me a white wobbly bit round the middle). What suits a 5 foot nothing short legged, slightly wobbly but not big size 8-10? I believe I have mentioned before I am going on hols with a size 6 social x ray and a rather gorgous 5'10 blonde. so this is of utmost importance.

I think it's really stylish, and flattering but it clearly left dh cold (but who cares? we all know I'm dressing for the x-ray and the blonde, not him ) dh also commented that it wouldn't be very practical since when does practical come into it? or alternatively this one . I'm off to M and S and if I have time John Lewis. If I don;t find anything it might have to be one of these two at some considerable expense.

if you mean the strapless one, i don't like it, sorry, and i couldnt bring myself to spend £100 on anything to wear, let alone a swimsuit which wouldn't get used that much!

My opinion, based on the women in DS's swimming class, is that bikinis or tankinis are more flattering. However, this is in an environment where people are going for practicality over style. In this case, I think a sporty speedo bikini is better than a boring school swimming costume. Sporty speedo bikini says "I exercise, I like my body, so I have a few stretch marks, get over it". Black school costume says "I hate my body, please don't look at the wobbly bits".

However, I accept that in a parading around on the beach situation there are probably one pieces that can do alot for you. As you can see from this thread, really it is down to personal taste, so it might as well be your taste rather than somebody else's.

Unfortunately, this is probably what I will be wearing on the beach in Wales this summer.

Its true one piece costumes are not flattering. Before I had ds I was a size 6-8 and always wore a bikini, now due to my laziness to get back into shape I am now a size 12 (flabby not toned) I thought I would try a swimming costume and I look like those pensioners that you see on the beach. A bikini looks hideous on me but I still younger than I do in a swimsuit.

One-pieces can be sexy if you get the right cut - worth spending some cash on. That strapless figleaves one even makes the model's tits look small and droopy.

that was the other one I liked Carolina. a word of warning everyone: if you want to know EXACTLY what your arse looks like go to M&S with their strategically-placed mirrors in the changing rooms. alternatively, if you;d rather enjoy your holiday, don't. what a depressing morning. no swimming costume. torn between looking like an old biddy (in a one piece) or a v flabby white thing (in a bikini) or feeling ok-ish but knowing dh thinks I look shite in a tankini. tough luck on dh really isn't it?

one-pieces are fine, you just need to accessorise well (it's that easy, honest ) and get some fake tan on you before you go.

I bought a couple of bikinis from Bravissimo and am really pleased with them - managed to get ones which cover the scary bit of my tummy nicely and support my 36FF boobs comfortably. I was a million times more comfy on hols in them, than in the one pieces I bought a few months ago. They were also from Bravissimo and not cheap, but like every swimsuit I try, they are not long enough in the body for me. I look better in the bikinis than the swimsuits !

would love to get away with tankini but am scared of my gut. however, i agree that black one-piece swimsuits look desperately boring and i'd rather wear something a bit brighter. will look at ones in bravissimo and see if they have enough lycra to hold the moomin-midriff in place.

those micro-bikinis are gross. I think my labia would fall out them.
