Work in a/c and have oily skin so just invested in the above as a no 3. Trying to see what helps also trying Neal's Yard as it's organic.

I'm paraben and sls free for hair and face.

Do you wear makeup? A layer of foundation might serve to give you spf and protect from the ac.....

MorrisZapp · 12/10/2013 00:01

I don't agree with face oils at all. I've got the driest skin ever, and after a few nights applying oil, I get spots.

If it feels all wrong, it is all wrong.

Hunfriend · 12/10/2013 09:06

The main issue is that oily skin can also be sensitive ,also cosmetic companies are out to sell us stuffwe don't need

My Beauty therapist (eyebrows) took a look at my skin under one of those high definition lamps (eeeek) and said I was getting the red spots ,painful and under the surface, because my skin is oily, but fine pored.
Scrubbing, rubbing, stripping and over stimulating when you have fine pores means they cannot cope with the out pouring of oil that inevitably happens and Bingo! Biscuit

Poodlehorse · 12/10/2013 14:11

I totally believe that oil treats oil. I have added in the superfacialist precleanse oil into my night time cleanse and my skin has gone from combi with a congested tzone that I struggled to keep at bay with good products to within a week being normal skin. I wasn't very oily though. Oil clenases without stripping and sending i to overdrive. I wouldn't use anything harsh, foaming or with crushed kernels on my face. Been there and done that and my skin wasn't like it is now. Using those products you end up in a viscious cycle in my experience (i realise others may disagree)

nomorecrumbs · 12/10/2013 14:24

A lot of these cleansing routines are based on marketing guff, IMO.

Depends how far you want to take it, though. Shampooing/conditioning/seruming hair is based on adverts proclaiming we need to do these things. Ditto anti-perspirant and now beautifying your armpits with armpit glitter or whatever shit is in the latest Dove product.

Moderation is key, a simple moisturiser that is right for your skin type is all that is needed. Plus it cuts out using an awful lot of artifical chemicals.

rootypig · 12/10/2013 19:16

Agree poodlehorse. What oils have you tried Morris? Some cleansing oils are very lightweight and rinse away easily, this is what you need. Clarins treatment oils are incredible.

jasminerose · 12/10/2013 19:19

I have been using clinique clarifying lotion 2 since age 13. There is nothing better and even my dh swears by it. Keeps your skin young

Hunfriend · 12/10/2013 20:38

It kept my skin spotty and irritated !

SundaySimmons · 12/10/2013 20:47

I bought this today

www.boots.com/en/LOreal-Paris-Skin-Perfection-3-in-1-Purifying-Micellar-Solution-200ml_1299734/

It was £2.99 in savers!

Has good reviews.

Hunfriend · 12/10/2013 21:36

I use the Bioderma Sebio one Sunday its brilliant.

Rexy · 13/10/2013 22:23

My hair care is now Aveda so maybe I should try their skin care. I prefer no parabens but some major players still use them !

I started using the oil cleansing method a while ago. I have oily skin like you OP. Have a Google.

It seems counter-intuitive but actually washing my skin with oil seems to stop my skin from producing more oil.

I use a combination of Caster oil, Jojoba oil, Argan oil and Tea Tree oil (a couple of drops).

And it works out a lot cheaper than Clinique! (which I used for 3 years wishing for it to work)

Here is some good basic info.

I started another thread about my terrible oily skin so I have been reading comments here with interest. Has anyone tried DHC products? They have a cleansing oil that looks interesting.... But they recommend a soap for cleansing after - will this not just strip skin?
