Eyelash extensions

I am intrigued and wondered if they are worth it? My lashes are naturally dark but need a good dollop of mascara. How long do they last? Does it mean that you don't need mascara or can they look like false lashes? Experiences greatly received!

i hated them
itchy and annoying

I was about to say try a few test ones first. I had them done and they made my eyes really itchy. Such a shame as they looked fab long and full with no need for mascara (which makes my eyes itch) but still natural.

I have had eyelash extensions from various different salons- the most expensive ones (£80ish) obviously look best, they give you lovely sweepy, doe eyes and they last for a few months. My only critisism would be that once you lose a few you look a bit odd and they are extremely difficult to remove yourself so it's either pay to go and have them removed, or look odd for a few weeks.

I now prefer to go cheap (£15 ish) as although they look far less subtle and only last 2 weeks ish, they can be easily (but slightly painfully) out by yourself (or by using an oily cleanser).

Either way you need to accept you are going to lose some of your pwn lashes at the end and for a couple of days after theyre off you think you'll look like a freak. I just wack loads of marscara on or if im going anywhere I whack on a set of strip lashes.

Ive never had more than two applications a year, so i'm by no means an expert!

Good luck.

They ruin your own eyelashes and tbh look trashy as soon as one goes plus that bambi look is very ageing. Get a really good mascara and use a lash conditioner they do bloody work! Curl your lashes and do lots of light coats.

I am a beauty therapist & I had them done by someone experienced. I loved them but within a few days you lose some & get gaps. Each lash that fell out took my own lash with it. I found the glue gave me a bad headache after I had them done & the next day. My eyes stung really bad when she finished.
I did all the correct aftercare but decided to remove them after a few weeks. I was left with short stubby lashes that looked terrible.
I had to but Rapid lash serum to grow them back.
I would not recommend having them done.
I was warned not to get them done but thought if I followed the correct after care I would be ok.
I'm glad I tried them but would never get them done again.

My only advice is dont do it. Do some searching on here and 90%+ of the advice says the same. Get rapid lash and eyelash curlers instead.

I had them done a few months ago and was very impressed. Cost about £40 and took two hours to complete. Followed the instructions to the letter, really tried to look after them and they lasted a fair few weeks. Yes they did fall out but can't say they looked particularly odd, I noticed but others didn't when asked ! Main thing is not to get them wet first 24 hours or so ( I used DS 1' s swimming goggles in shower to start with) and not use oil based make up remover if I remember rightly. I have quite sensitive eyes and also wear contacts but didn't notice any irritation.

Right! Thanks everyone, think I will go false for my party instead. Not sure I like the sound of going bald!
