Help me pleeeaaaaaassse...tiny holes keep appearing at the bottom of all my tops

It's driving me MAD! I think it may be where they rub on my jean button/fly. I first noticed it on drapey h and m tops, so just thought it was 'cos they were crappy fabric but have now noticed holes in my new merino jumper, and an Anglomania top ( sob) and some cashmere. Have anti-moth stuff.
Does anyone else get this and how can I stop it?

My post got deleted for trying to help the community who suffer from the tiny holes!! Hmm Apparently you can't recommend something that helps?!

CormorantDevouringTime · 17/05/2017 06:38

We've been invaded by Housekeeping spammers Gigimia. You obviously looked like one of them

Scribblegirl · 17/05/2017 06:39

Maybe it was the fact that you went to the trouble to bump a 4 year old thread in order to promote whatever it was you were promoting Hmm

CormorantDevouringTime · 17/05/2017 06:51

OMG I didn't notice - it's such a perennial topic. Gigimia, you're busted.

Gigimia · 17/05/2017 06:55

Didn't even notice it was from four years ago! Geez people!! I wish I did have a product that fixed this Shock

bruffin · 17/05/2017 06:57

My case it was belt buckle, since i stopped wearing particular belt it stopped happening

Firefries · 17/05/2017 06:59

I found another hole recently too. Wondered if it was seasonal as I hadn't had it for a while. Mind you with winter it means most tshirts and tops are not exposed if you are always wearing jumpers so it could explain it a little. Always interested why this happens. I don't think an answer has been found. Closest one has to be rubbing and catching it on kitchen surfaces. I gave up on the moth idea a few years ago.

Yewtown · 17/05/2017 09:09

This happens to me too. I'm convinced its the thin cotton getting wet and rubbing. I have granite worktops and find if I lean against them with damp fabric it happens. My Sil finds it happens to her when staying with my Pils who also have granite. Slubby cotton is just not up to everyday living imo

Oldraver · 17/05/2017 10:24

I assumed it was due to the metal prong on my belt, so I used to turn the belt round

MaQueen · 17/05/2017 11:05

I know the answer to this mystery...it's your seatbelt!

It's where the lap-strap part of the seatbelt rubs against your belt buckle, or just your jeans button and wears little holes in the fabric of your tops.

When I'm in a car, I always pull my top free of the lap-strap. No more little holes...

We have had an occasional moth, and some carpet beetle larvae as well causing problems in the past.

I keep lavender in bags hanging, and put cedar balls in drawers, to help reduce infestations.

JustTheWayYouAre · 17/05/2017 13:54

Definitely jeans, I haven't had this problem since switching to side fastening trousers.

NinaMarieP · 17/05/2017 13:57

My belief is it is car seat belt catching the fabric against a belt buckle or button. My fiancé has a ton of tshirts with little holes just off to the left, exactly where his belt is. I'm not in the car nearly as often so I suffer much less.

Squashit · 17/05/2017 14:46

I think it is to do with the crappy materials pedalled these days. I haven't had the issue since I started wearing longline vests under my clothes.
