Worth the money? I need some new straighteners and wondered. Or any others you can suggest?

I'm on my second set in eleven years so overall cost is fairly low. They have always worked very well on my thick, frizzy, weird wavy mess that is my hair. So yes, I would recommend them, but I have no comparison!

Mine are currently 6 years old and are still perfectly good. I used to have a pair of Remington ones before my ghds and they weren't a patch on the ghds. When the ghds break I will def get them again.

chelsbells · 06/10/2013 08:43

Definately.

Love mine, would never go back to a cheaper version either.

At the moment hairdressers have got offers on for them, you take in any electrical hair product, working/broken doesn't matter which and they will take off £20 from the straighteners. It's something GHD are trying to do to recycle old hair products, so offering money off in return! Can't beat that :) alternatively, amazon normally have good offers on them!

Mine are ten years old, the plates fell out but had them repaired locally....good as new. Definitely worth it!

Cloud Nines - used to have GHD's but these are better. Also have thick frizzy hair which they straighten into silky softness. They also worked for creating ringlets on my daughters fine straight hair (for a school play!) but I did turn the temperature down somewhat!

I think I read that the person who invented GHD's sold the company and went on to create Cloud Nine.

I got a new pair last Christmas as part of a set. To be honest and I don't know if this applies to individually sold ones (I assume it does) they only heat up to 180 degrees. So I'm my opinion, they aren't as good as my older model that I sold on eBay! I had my hair trimmed at the hair dressers the other week & she straightened it with an older model & the difference was amazing! I may well sell my newer pair & buy an older pair of eBay!

duckyfuzz · 09/10/2013 08:40

i've had mine for about 10 years now - they broke quite early on and GHD fixed them (replaced them I think) for a minimal cost, wouldn't be without them!

MTBMummy · 09/10/2013 09:15

I love mine! I bought them about 6 years ago as a treat to myself after a couple of years of using cheap imitations, which broke and never really worked well, these keep going strong, and deal with my thick frizzy hair without a fuss.

My sister will always steal them when she visits, so I'll be getting her a set for Christmas this year

janmoomoo · 11/10/2013 19:23

Yes yes yes.
I have had two pairs in ten years.
Sometimes I use my sisters babyliss ones and they are luke warm in comparison.
