Where on high street I best to get fitted for bra post-BF? Small boobs..

Pre-DC M&S had me at a size 34AA Hmm During pregnancy and BF they put me at 34D though I then got professionally fitted by a maternity bra specialist and was a 32DD. Stopped feeding a week ago and bras already gaping. Where is best for fitting as I don't trust Markies any more! Thanks.

JL are pretty good. Debenhams and HoF are a bit hit and miss.

Have you tried working out your size by following The Bra Guru guide?

abigboydidit · 05/10/2013 16:34

Wow. That guide seems very different to how I was measured! Where's my tape...

SorrelForbes · 05/10/2013 16:35

Yep, but I promise you it'll be more accurate Grin

abigboydidit · 05/10/2013 16:38

No way!! That makes me a 30F or 30G!! That canny be right. Measured 3 times. What am I doing wrong?

abigboydidit · 05/10/2013 16:40

Read again 30E or 30F. But I did have issues measuring my rather bullet like nipples Shock

Can you even buy bras that are 30 around the way?

Yep it can Grin. If you put your current (or pre BF bra) on, how far can you pull it away from your body? If you scoop, is there overspill/underarm bulge? Is there overspill/bulge/back fat/ anyway?

Remember that there is an FF, so you'll be looking to try a 30F and a 30FF. Bear in mind that in certain styles you may need a 30E or a 30G.

You're doing nothing wrong. Bras have been fitted incorrectly for years. Go to the shops, try a variety of styles and shapes.

SorrelForbes · 05/10/2013 16:44

Ah, I'm guessing you missed the DD?

You can buy 28 and 30 backs at JL, Debenhams and HoF but they're not plentiful. Most of us tend to buy on-line from sites like Brastop, Figleaves, Me and My Curves, Leia, Amazon and eBay.

Your other option (and by far the best) is Bravissimo. Do you have one near you?

abigboydidit · 05/10/2013 16:44

Blimey. I have to say I was stunned after I was properly fitted after DDs birth for feeding bras. It felt really tight and the band was far lower than I was used to - below my shoulder blades and parallel to my waist rather than pulled up between them. May need to find somewhere on line that does free returns as have 2 small kids so no chance for proper rummage in shops (hence wanting to get measured!).

Yes there is a bravissimo but surely they would laugh me out the door Shock

Nope, you are totally in their size range. They start at a 28D (I think) so would be perfect for you. They stock some wonderful bras too. Their own brand is lovely and they also carry Cleo, Curvy Kate, Freya, Fantasie, Panache etc.

I think Bravissimo offer free returns too.

abigboydidit · 05/10/2013 17:10

Wow! Once kids are in bed am going to look at their website. There is a shop in the nearest town but parking is impossible. I am still not fully convinced..

Sorry - one last question. I have only stopped feeding for one week so will give it another week or so and measure again before I order. Imagine they will be less full than they used to be - any advice on what style would be best? I use to always just go for boring t shirt bras Hmm

You will probably find T-shirt bras aren't so good tbh. Once you have lost fullness (common post baby side effect!) then you might find that they gape at the to even when they fit everywhere else. Some are better than others for this. There are also some which are a more balconette shape such as the Cleo Juna and Maddie which give the t-shirt coverage without being as tall.

abigboydidit · 05/10/2013 17:21

Thanks. Any idea roughly how long I should wait? Was pregnant with DD while still feeding DS so been over 3 years since my boobs were my own Shock

I've just stopped feeding too. I think it can take a while for them to completely end up at your post BF size - I would only buy one or two bras now, in case you change shape some more.

Honestly, the bra measuring advice is spot on. Initially the band feels tight because you have been used to wearing the wrong size. But it soon feels normal. And your boobs will look better and be more supported, and you'll look thinner. Really. It's amazing.
