Is there such a thing as comfortable party shoes?

I have bought the most perfect dress and I want to get some shoes to go with it for a do.

I struggle with very high heels but I want some lift because I'm only 5'4. Court shoe style tend to just slip off me.

The dress is black and I'd probably wear black tights. Any ideas?

ah the shoe holy grail! truthfully high heels just aren't comfy but you get used to the feeling so think they are! Sam Edelman heels are my go to shoe if i know there will be dancing and walking. I do usually have some folded up flip flops in my clutch bag too...best ebay buy ever for when the taxi just won't hurry up! 4 inch heel max, strap across your foot or ankle for support. A wedge can be 'comfy' if not too high

There are a lot of wedges around. If you've got the legs, black suede shoe boot wedges would go with most things, and stop you getting claw toe from keeping on open shoes?

I can do a medium heel and I like shoe boots if they would go with a dress. What do you think of something like this to break up the black? Black better?

Clark's heels are usually quite comfortable. Their heels tend to be a bit chunkier so easier to wear. In general the thinner and higher the more uncomfortable they become.

jackstini · 02/10/2013 23:06

What is the dress like?

I find if I go for a 1/2" platform so the heel isn't really as high, or a wedge, I don't get quite as sore feet.

Also get some gel inserts!

I don't really do heels but have Clarks Chorus Jazz in black suede as my party shoes. They have a slight platform and lots of padding - I even managed dancing as they have a thin Mary Jane strap. Have to say I was glad to take them off at the end of the day though!

this blog gave me hope they weren't too middle aged and "clarksy"!

They come in teal!!

DisappointedHorse · 03/10/2013 18:32

The dress is short, tight and ruched!

Fossil, they're really nice but look like my usual work shoes.

Hush Puppies!

They do some chunky heels and also Mary Jane type shoes in fun colours (I have red and orange).

Also Rocket Dog.

Will link.

These are fairly fun/ young but could dress up a black dress, some of them.

Bit more dressy but still comfy:

Clarks do quite a few variations on the same shape/heel that are hopefully just as comfortable.

your work shoes are obviously more glam than mine are Grin!

I sit on my arse all day!

Thanks RP, I'll have a look at those.
