Dithering....do I go back to being auburn...( feria mango)

I'm at that stage again where I'm bored with my current hair colour which is a medium brown, a bit lighter at the roots, darker at the lengths &

Anyway I'm determind to stay away from the straighteners and hair dyes for a month, if I sit in my hands in sure I can do it!

I was auburn last year using this www.boots.com/en/LOreal-Feria-mango-intense-copper-7-4_1162390/ lovely colour.

So when im ready to colour again, (overdyed lately so holding off for now!) I'm dithering whether to back to this colour? My question is what colour/vibrancy will it come out over my colour I have now? Obviously it won't go as light as I had it last year as my pre colour was lighter last year. Or will it just go a dull yucky purple? Don't really fancy going down the colour B4 route as it does wreck the hair eventually.

Try garnier intense red copper.I use it on my dark brown hair (works on black too) and get a lovely flaming copper.Couldn't get anywhere near with Feria Mango

Thanks TripTrap. Is that over coloured dark brown or natural? And would you say it's definitely more of a copper colour rather red colour iykwim?!

Natural darling Brown but also with dye in it.It is most definitely copper. This pic is in the sun so gleaming (please excuse the holiday attire!) and that's straight from dark brown

That's a lovely colour :)

I've just got to decide what to do, i've got to wait if i want to change colour anyway, my hair's knackered now. I'll probably have to use a colour remover to get to an auburn shade, which will only further damage my hair. One to think about!

It will probably be kinder to your hair if you use a prelightner to lift it just enough (10mins). It should leave it an auburn colour then you can go over it with a red/brown to even it up straight away. The colorb4 stuff is such a faff and unreliable to boot. You are them left with patchy hair for weeks until you can dye it again.

Use a Loreal excellence shade in hazlenut or auburn (the preference stuff has been reformulated and is dire). You can leave it a couple of weeks and if you still want it brighter then use one of the castings shades. This has worked for me when going from over dark hair to auburn.

Sorry to gatecrash but steppedonafrog which prelightener would you use. Is this something you could do at home?

SteppedOnaFrog · 02/10/2013 17:43

I would tend to stick with the L'oreal one and yes at do it at home.
