Is there such a thing as a pair of affordable jeans which don't sag at the knees after a wear and a wash?

Can anyone recommend me some decent jeans which will not go baggy at the knee, actually feel like they are made of tough denim (not flimsy lycra) and also have a lovely high tum-covering waistband. Oh and they must also cost no more than fifty quid. Tried Warehouse, Next and New Look and they just cannot withstand the battering they get (I have three very young DCs so up and down on the floor a lot, mucky paw prints etc).

I noticed Tesco were selling some high waisted skinnies.I've not tried Tesco clothes before but there are lots of good reviews on the website for these jeans, so am wondering if I should give 'em a shot!

TIA

I get mine from Boden and Gap, usually on ebay, but they are under £50 new. Both of these do styles with a higher waist and thicker denim.

I do have some sainsbury's ones that have done well in the knee test too. Any jeans I wear go through at the knee eventually, but Next are the quickest to give way IME.

Top shop Kirsten are fab! I am a size 10, 5' 7 with curvy arse & find I need the 26 32 (although 32 leg is a bit long)

I can't see past Gok Wan at sainsburys jeans.

25% off at the moment too.

I've got a couple of pairs of boyfriend jeans from M&S from last year that are still going strong. I think they were about £35 a pair

I got some grey skinnies from Tesco, on vouchers, last month. They feel soft but not thin material, and hold their shape after a day of crawling about after the nippers. And the best bit: they were only £7! Yes, £7. Definitely compare with much more expensive brands.

I think you need to make sure the jeans have about 10-20% polyester in them, and/or are of thick denim so they snap back into shape. Zara TRF are often good.

Oasis cherries are great. The only thing against then is that the colour fades pretty quickly.

RainbowBob · 30/09/2013 11:23

Oasis! Why on earth didn't I think of that? I have several old pairs of jeans from years ago from Oasis, and they are indeed pretty good quality (don't fit any more, sadly, due to post baby bulging).

Duvethog - Thank you for the Topshop Kristen suggestion. I love Topshop for dresses, tops and coats but have always been scared of the jeans as I always have to size up massively. I notice there are none on the website, but loads on eBay.... any ideas what size I should try? I am a 10 in most other shops.

LadyBigtoes- had no idea Gap did high waisted skinnies. Just checked the website and there are none in my size ....

I think I may have to face the grim fact, now, that the only way to get a decent pair of well-fitting jeans is to hit the shops Sad.

Dorothy Perkins do a great pair for just over £20. They are high waisted and never sag (and i wear them for datasys6s on end....yuck !)

I bought some in primark the other day for £13 , high waist skinnies and push me up too. Haven't bagged either .

I quite like Oasis amber, bought one pair in shop then when I knew what I wanted about 3 others on eBay xx
