Help me find a new perfume

I haven't worn perfume for years as it aggravated my asthma and then I had babies and was worried they wouldn't like it. Am ready for a new scent now though. Can anyone suggest anything.

I used to love the Gucci one. Not sure name but was a cuboid bottle and a brown perfume. Very strong and dusky though - perfect for a ball. Too heavy for me now though.

Also went through a stage of ck one and gio and I think I want that kind of light flowery thing going on again. Nothing too strong or chemical or sickly though.

Basically I want to smell like an English country garden, as if I've bathed in rose petals with a hint of honeysuckle, but without wanting to be sick or smell like a 90 year old's old fashioned talcum powder.

If only white musk was acceptable in your thirties. Grin

Would be fab to get ideas to shortlist so I can go and sniff a few.

Chanel coco Mademoiselle

Do try Pure Grace by Philosophy, it's lovely: subtle and comforting and clean-smelling.
Also, try Rose by Paul Smith.

J'adore by Dior.

Floral with a slight peachy note. Feminine yet grown up.

Gucci flora is lovely. Very fresh and (as the name would suggest) floral but if you get the parfum as opposed to the eau de toilette very long lasting and has a bit more to it than other floral perfumes - I mean, it doesn't have that sharpness that less high-end flowery ones do; it's a lot more rounded with more going on.

It's not cheap though; I save mine for special occasions.

If you really have no clue what to go for, I would recommend just finding a perfume counter somewhere and seeing what they can suggest for you. That's how I found out about GF, and it was actually a very nice experience - I told the assistant what I liked and she spent time with me and suggested loads of things and sprayed them onto little bits of card so I could sniff them and see how they developed - and this was just in a bog-standard branch of Boots.

I have gone off a lot of the perfumes by gucci, dior chanel etc and have been wearing m&s Fragonard Naturelles in patchouli and vetiver. They both have good sillage.

I haven't smelt this but it sounds lovely

JPG Classique and Stella are both very wearable roses

Just thought of another thing - the assistant in Boots not only sprayed things onto cards and took note of my reactions to them but also if I sniffed at a strip after it had developed a bit found stuff that would develop in the same way if I liked it. I was in there for ages and she was unerringly patient with me swapping and re-starting lots of times over. If you don't know your way around perfumes (and which of us do?) then it really is worth enlisting help ime.
