How to cope with long thick hair?

I have been growing it for 2 years it is now nipple level

Got layers to make it less thick but I don't have the patience to blow dry it 100% so there is residual frizz...

Tend to wear it up most days but it feels such a fucking burden

Don't want to cut it off for another year what can I do to cope with the feeling of heaviness and hassle ???

Mine is thick, long and wavy so luckily it doesn't need blow dried. Makes my life much easier!

Why do you want to keep it for another year? Unless it's for a special reason I would just get rid to be honest if its annoying you.

Waiting to get married lol

The thing is if I cut it to a bob it will be annoying for sports.

But if I cut it to a crop i will have to go through the mushroom phase if I want to grow it again

I use 3 day straight spray on mine which helps it look smooth and sleek and wear it down, need to wash it every 5-6 days. If I blow dry it looks even better, if I straighten it looks amazing.

How long do you need to keep it for the wedding day? You could have a few inches chopped off now and it would still grow in time?

17leftfeet · 28/09/2013 21:29

Can you get it thinned?

My hairdresser thins the middle of mine so when the top piece it lose it looks all one length but it really takes the weight out and I have enough hair for 3 people apparently

RandomMess · 28/09/2013 21:29

Other option is just plait it.

OldRoan · 28/09/2013 21:31

Tie it half up?

Youtube quick updo for long hair and try some of them... I sleep on mine damp to help it curl a bit more and it feels sort of flatter and thinner after that -worth a shot?

If you're getting married could you not have it trimmed a bit now? I cut mine from bum length to above shoulder last August - currently it's in a side plait over one shoulder and the end is nipple height. I'd estimate it has grown best part of 5 or 6 inches in the year.

Random - what brand is that?

Will see about getting a trim and get it thinned more ...

Frieda Frizz Ease 3 day straight, I don't have frizzy hair more sort of thick straight har with kinks in it - it def makes a difference though.

MadameLeBean · 28/09/2013 22:02

Yeah mine is thick and straight with kinks too. Thanks will get some of that

I have long thick hair. Putting it up is so much easier using a flexi 8 or spin pins. Both are a god send in holding up long, thick hair. Makes it much less hassle.

RandomMess · 28/09/2013 22:07

You need to use the stuff very sparingly, if you over use it then your hair is sticky and horrible Grin

marriedinwhiteisback · 28/09/2013 22:07

I wish I knew MadamLeBean. Really I do - strokes fine, flyaway, mousy, greying pile of shite.

The grass is always greener right!
