Another bloody bra thread...sorry

Right, I've measured my boobs and I am confused!

I am 31 inches underneath and 38 inches on top so that would be a 30FF right?!

What confuses me is that I wear a 32F at the minute and the cups are too big (the bra gapes at the top and I have the dreaded "back fat")

Any bra gurus about as I need to order a strapless bra for Saturday (the only one I currently have is a 34E pre-babies one and there's no way these bad boys are getting into that anytime soon!)

Have you tried a 30F or 30FF?

SorrelForbes · 25/09/2013 21:59

Never apologise for starting a bra thread Grin

OK, your measurements suggest a 30F/30FF or a 32E/F.

How far away from your body can you pull your 32F? If you scoop, do you get overspill? Is it a moulded, t-shirt syle bra? If so, then try another style like a balconette. Moulded bras are very hard to fit as they don't mould to your shape, hence the gaping.

The best, IMHO, strapless bra is the Wonderbra Ultimate strapless. However, it fits a little differently from other bras as it sits quite low on the body. You'll need to size up in the back to a 32. Try a 32E/FF.

Sorry, I meant G...don't think FF sizes are available

Tbh mint I got measured in Leia, tried lots of different things on and seemed to be a different size in every brand!

Sorrell I seem to have the same issue regardless of whether it's t-shirt or balconette style. If I lift my arms up, the bra rides up and the wire lifts away from my body and the top of the cups is gap-ey (more so in t-shirt styles). I find myself having to tighten the straps as tight as they will go to get decent support and I have that horrid red line round my rib cage (I think because the bra slips down so it's not right under my boobs)

OK, the bra riding up, the wire lifting, the band slipping down and having to tighten the straps are all signs of too big a band and too small a cup. Red marks are fine but they shouldn't be sore.

Definitely try a 30 band in an F and a FF. The volume won't be a lot different to what you're currently wearing but the proportions will be slightly different. Would you say your breasts are heavier on the top or bottom? Are they wide set (starting out almost under your arms) or do they have a narrower root?

It's annoying but not unusual to need different sizes in different brands.

Paintyourbox · 25/09/2013 22:30

I would say they were heavier at the bottom and seem to be quite wide set...

DP is giving me weird looks as I am sat with my hand down my top!

OK, you should look at some shallow, wide set balconette styles like the Cleo Juna and Lucy, the Bravissimo Dotty Spot, the Tutti Rouge range and the Curvy Kate showgirl range.

Thanks Sorrel shall have a look and report back!
