Job interview

As the tittle says I have a job interview for a trainee role and I have absolutely nothing I could wear as I normally wear jeans and tshirts. What could I wear that is cheap and maybe wearable day to day with two small children.

Yay congrats on getting an interview!

Can you give us a bit more info? My opinion will be a bit different if it's a trainee vet vs trainee solicitor Smile or if you don't want to say what it is, at least whether the job is office based, on your feet all the time, or out in the fresh air?

how about a dress that you can wear again as casual, and smarten it up with a black or navy blazer. Lots of cheap blazers around or borrow one for the interview?

To an interview I would wear my 'best' version of what I would wear to work if I got the job. You don't say what sort of job it is for but for an office job in a professional environment I would wear a pencil skirt and shirt or blouse, or dress with blazer, and some heels. I would be smart and conservative with a bit of an edge - like a statement piece of jewellery or a bold colour in the blouse or shoes.

Maybe a jersey dress you can dress up or down if you want to wear it day to day with kids?

Yes forgot to add I would be getting a uniform as it's a trainee dental nurse. Been desperately looking online and I only have a couple of hours child free on the day of the interview. Been applying for things for so long and the day after I sent a cv I have an interview for two days later!

what is your budget OP? Do you own a smart skirt/trousers and nice top you could dress up with a blazer?

emsyj · 25/09/2013 18:00

I would go for a jersey dress that you can wear 'smartly' with tights and shoes and then afterwards over skinny jeans/leggings. I wouldn't go as formal as wearing a blazer/jacket unless it's your usual style.

Actually I quite like both of these, and they're cheap enough that you don't need to worry about how much wear you get out of them (although both probably wear-able afterwards dressed down).
