Should I be using something specific or will a blob of shampoo do?

I'm trying to be better about my hair & beauty routine but it's literally years Blush since I paid any attention to any sort of brush...

Baby shampoo or Dove soap will do it. Make sure that you don't let water get under the metal part of the brush or it might damage the glue holding the bristle in place.

You can make brush cleaner by mixing:

  • ?1 cup distilled water
  • 1/4 cup isopropyl alcohol
  • 1/2 tablespoon dishwashing liquid
  • 1/2 tablespoon baby shampoo
  • 1 tablespoon spray leave in conditioner

Put in a spray bottle. To use, spray on tissue or paper towel then rub with brush, or spray directly on brush and run on dry tissue.

I use the spray cleaner after every use, and wash with shampoo every week or so.

I use Dr Bronner's liquid castille soap to shampoo them then leave them to dry on a facecloth. I've got no.7 brush cleaner that i bought with one of their vouchers to freshen them up between shampoos.

baby shampoo is more within my budget atm (plus I already have some for dd2 Grin ). Will have a look for proper brush cleaner in a few weeks when money isn't so tight.

Must remember not to wet the silver bit.

I think it might take a while to get some of them properly clean it's been a good while Confused

I got fed up with trying to completely get my bronzer out of my brushes so

I put them in one of those laundry bags that you protect your delicates with and I bunged them in the washing machine. They came out perfect. U was worried because they are all natural hair and I thought the glue might melt but it was definitely a risk worth taking as none were ruined and I did about 10 at a time.

I just use baby shampoo. I squirt a bit into the palm of my hand, swirl the brush around in it, and rinse. If your brushes are very loaded with product you might have to do this twice to get them really clean.

I use Bare Escentuals brush cleaner. It's really good and conditions the brushes. I have Mac brushes which are quite dear so wouldn't really want to ruin them using any old shampoo :-) plus it's also great for when accidentally get make up on the carpet!!

I just use the same shampoo as I use on my hair, otherwise washing-up liquid. I've had my brushes years and it's not harmed them in any way.
