Any Brazilian Blowdryers about? If so I need advice...

My hair and drizzle really don't get on, so on a mad 'fro' fuelled impulse today I went and got my first ever Brazilian Blowdry. So far me likey. It's a lot straighter and flatter than my normal do (possibly because she wasn't trying to make a packed lunch and dress a toddler whilst doing it) and feels very silky, but I have two dilemmas...

  1. They said to wait 4 full days before washing it but, in my haste to lose the frizz I'd forgotten I've got a big night out planned on Friday. What should I do? Wash that afternoon (so 72 hours post treatment) or wait and hope we go somewhere very dark?

  2. Should I pay the whopping £23 for the official nano-keratin shampoo they offered me in the hairdressers or is there any cheaper alternatives that won't turn me back into Sideshow Bob?

Any advice would be great.

Sorry OP seems like I gave you the wrong advice. I really thought sulphates were the enemy, didn't realise that about sodium chlorate, so will be using up my current Eversleek and then getting the Tresemme stuff! DOH!

Have you washed your hair today?

CheeseAndBunion · 27/09/2013 14:08

Not yet. I'm planning on a wash before I go out later. The no tucking hair behind ears thing is starting to become a real struggle. I did the washing up earlier and had to grope around blindly in the sink as I couldn't see through my long limp mass of hair. Roll on 6pm!

Fudge shampoo and conditioner is suitable for Brazilian blowouts and smells yummy too. My hair dresser told me she just uses baby shampoo though as thats sulphate and salt free.

I looked at the ingredients on the baby shampoo when I first did mine. I definitely does have sodium chloride listed. Just in case anyone is thinking of using it Smile.

yes I was shocked at how much supermarket shelf stuff has sodium chloride in it, hence the delight at sainsbury kids shampoo. problem is it smells so nice the rest of the family always use it too.

Is a Brazilian blow dry suitable for basically straight (with a little natural wave) but very fine hair? I want it to look shiny all the time but I don't want it to be poker straight if that makes sense.

Vesta sounds like we have similar hair and everything I've read suggests that it's not suitable for very fine hair - but would like to be proved wrong!

can't see why it wont be suitable for fine hair except that it will straighten it so if you want waves then you would have to dry them in or curl it after treatment. I can make hair look flatter obviously as it straightens it which might look a bit limp on very fine hair. tbh unless you want straight hair you are probably better off finding a good clarifying shampoo, a decent shampoo and a good conditioner and weekly mask or oil treatment to make it glossy. my hairdresser put a clear glaze on mine once when I had my roots coloured but not the rest and that was very nice and shiney and sleek.
