Upper lip hair: Remove or disguise?

boogiewoogie · 24/09/2013 14:00

I have dark hair naturally so it shows. I used to bleach it with Immac/Veet but it is a faff, can get quite messy and found later that I became sensitive to it.

Are there other ways of either painlessly removing it or hiding it? I'd really appreciate to know what others have found effective so I could go and try. Thank you.

Waxed, or use wax strips at home. Much nicer!

boogiewoogie · 24/09/2013 14:02

I did try that once back in the days when I waxed my legs but found it too painful.

I use one of those long springs, I'm not sure what they're called. They're only about two quid.

KittyMcAllister · 24/09/2013 14:08

Wax. V painful but the only way!

boogiewoogie · 24/09/2013 14:10

Plucking all of it would takes a while SmallTorch at least for me anyway. Painful enough doing my eyebrows with them.

Threading leaves it less red than waxing and is more accurate

hoppingmad · 24/09/2013 14:12

The new waxing they do is much less sore and gets even the finest hair (I think it's called lyrica). They don't use strips, just the wax itself which is left to set and that whipped off. I was quite amazed at the difference between that and traditional waxing tbh

How about hair removal cream? You can just put it on in the shower. This one is excellent for sensitive skin. And it works. Louis Marcel Hair Remover Cream - Face & Bikini Line - 75mls

Boots own hair removing cream is v gentle on my sensitive skin and works a treat. I only have to do it every couple of months too.

Allice · 24/09/2013 14:54

I had my eyebrows threaded today and the lady asked me if I wanted my upper lip done!
Must have been bad! It wasn't that painful and it looks great now.

I second the Boots own brand sensitive skin cream.

A bit like a superfine emery board

Thirding boots own brand sensitive cream. Am v dark haired and have to use it about once a week. Occasional plucking at the side with tweezers. Not painful at all.

Electrolysis is the best long term plan IMO

boogiewoogie · 24/09/2013 22:24

Thanks for replies everyone. I think I'll have a look at the removal cream. :)

Sorry rubbish at links but look on ebay for a spring facial epilator threading tool. Sister bought one for me in August it's fantastic, quick and easy!

LadyHarrietdeSpook · 24/09/2013 22:41

Remove!

Minshu · 24/09/2013 23:35

Epistick!! Less than two quid on amazon. Less painful and less irritation than waxing and just a few seconds a day to keep on top of it all.
