"At Home" Wear

Hark at me with my "at home" wear!

What I really want to ask is what do you do when you get home from work/lunching/shopping?

I'm learning the art (slowly) of dressing a bit better when I go out shopping or meeting friends etc but feel a bit restricted an "outfit" when the cat wants to curl up on my lap.

Do you dress down when you get home? I'm trying to avoid the tracksuit bottom phenomenon so what should I do? If I worked full-time I wouldn't hesitate to get in my dressing gown after work but since it's dressing up for just an hour to go to waitrose .. what to do?

Totally agree - tend to revert to jeans, t-shirt, hoody when I'm either having a day at home or am home from being 'out'. I am consciously trying to wear more of my wardrobe, but find the above far more practical for cleaning, housework, cuddling children and dogs....Smile

I do have 'loungewear', for a few reasons all of which will make me sound a bit smug and mental but here goes.

-I work from home a lot so I don't want to be sitting around in full work gear but pyjamas are also a no no
-numerous DC and animals mean I'm always on call
-we always have people popping round
-because I'm at home often I like to keep my pyjamas just for bed, wearing different outfits helps me separate my day a bit more.

I buy things from COS, Zara Home, Gap etc. I suppose indoors I wear quite a lot of grey, navy, taupe and striped tops. Typically I'd wear something like harem leggings with an oversized Breton top. I buy some nice basic knitwear to wear as well and use jewellery to jazz it up a bit if I'm going out. I think in the winter having a good casual coat and footwear make all the difference.

I live in jeans when I'm at home. Yoga pants or joggies look gorgeous on the young size 6 models in the Hush catalogue but I (older, larger) feel more like Waynetta Slob in them. Boden do pull-ons that are supposed to be lounge wear but just look like nightwear to me and I don't want to put my jammies on as soon as I get home in case I have to pop to the shops or someone comes to the door.

I feel like Waynetta too! I certainly am not young and even as a size 10 I feel huuuuge and slobby in tracksuit bottoms.

Thanks for your ideas ladies, I'll look into yoga pants/leggings as my jeans are too tight to be sitting about in after a pasta supper :)
