Stila Make-up

Hi, I have decided to switch to Stila after using Bobbi Brown for a couple of years. Does anybody have any recommendations? Also, is there a website where they have 'Get the Look' type charts for Stila? I will be buying online, so would like to buy things that go together.

Thanks.

Don't bother with the lip stuff, it doesn't stay on, is slimy and the packaging is fragile/brittle and breaks easily.

Stila eyeshadow is lovely. Try one of the "In the..." palettes, particularly "In the Light" for neutrals (matte and shimmer) or "In the Know" for mattes.

Their eyeliners are really good too.

I agree re the eyeshadows - good quality and lovely colours and coverage.

Thanks for your replies. Is anybody familiar enough with the product range to make some recommendations for me? I am looking for a darker eyeshadow that I can use with Kitten. Also, a lipstain and lip glaze that go together that are a pinky red. I prefer warm colours to cool. Also a blush that would go with these. I have dark hair, green eyes and medium skin tone.
Thanks so much!

There is loads of it in Poundland.

Which I think, probably says all that needs to be said.

I bought some foundation and it was shite.

If you are buying online, get it from ebay. It's as cheap as chips.

Their convertible colour is a classic - works well for lip and cheek (one of few things from any cosmetics brand I repeat buy at full price). Try peony for a natural pink (I am same colouring as you).

ILoveMakeUp · 24/09/2013 07:02

Thanks MrsCocoa, I will put that on my list. Any other recommendations?

Oh, i was going to say don't bother with the convertible colour! I'm not a fan.

Stila "Diamond Lil" is my favourite eyeshadow ever, it's a kind of warm taupe colour. Their eyeshadows are great, they have v intense colour, yet are sheer and shimmery.

LadyBigtoes · 24/09/2013 10:40

However I have never really rated them for things like foundation/concealer etc - they are good at nice colours, not practical essentials.

ILoveMakeUp · 24/09/2013 10:53

Thanks LadyBigtoes, I have put Diamond Lil in my basket Grin. Do you wear it on its own? Also, any rec's for lip gloss? I am looking for a warm pinky red. Thanks.

Lancome juicy tubes all the way for me as far as lip gloss goes - I like lychee and fraise, there is also a caramel one that you might like. I don't like the stila ones.

Yes I smudge Diamond Lil on on its own, or (v occasionally, for posh night out!) spend time building up a more blended look over a layer of a lighter colour I have called Moonlight.

Housewife2010 · 24/09/2013 13:14

I don't like Juicy Tubes at all - I find them far too sticky. I like the Stila Lip glazes & find the packaging hard wearing. It's also handy because I sometimes use them as a lip brush with other lip products when I'm out. I wouldn't buy one just yet though. It's best to wait a little while because in the run up to Xmas you can get sets of 8 smaller Lip glazes for about £16 from places like Boots, ASOS & the Stila site. It works out far cheaper. I've bought sets the last 2 years.

Katnipp · 24/09/2013 18:20

I'd also recommend diamond lil. You can sometimes get good palettes with 15 -20 colours just all a lot smaller than the individuals. Good way to try a lot out and find ultimate favourites. Agree about waiting to Christmas time. I got a great eyeliner set last year. 5 colours and they all last well. I'm also a fan of their powder illuminating foundation (i apply with a flat top brush they do). I've been using it for 8 years on and off - quick to apply, great colour for me, and good price for day to day use. Was a period a few years ago where some products changed and didn't seem as good (sure I've read that I what you can find in pound shops). Finally their brushes are very good. Again I've had mine for 8 years and they are still going strong.
