What do you use to take off eye makeup?

I use oil to clean my face but it never manages to shift all of my mascara or eyeliner. I would like to try a new product that is gentle and won't sting my eyes or be too harsh on my skin.

Thanks for recommendations

Another baby wipes fan here.

Astr0naut · 22/09/2013 20:40

Simple eye make up remover, the liquid, not the cream. I've trued baby wipes, but they seems to drag my eyes and makes them sting.

GobblersKnob · 22/09/2013 20:46

Another Clinique, take the day off, it's so gentle and very effective.

AllOverIt · 22/09/2013 21:50

Bioderma Crealine here too. I bulk buy when we go to France...

liz earle cleanse and polish, really great for getting off all make up and is quick and leaves skin feeling lush

Dilidali · 22/09/2013 21:56

Olay. A cream in a tube. Brilliant. For years I have used M&S formula, in a light green bottle, absolutely fantastic. Then they went and changed the formula and I can't use it anymore.
But olay one is good. I wear eyeliner and mascara and cleans beautifully. Then I use hot water flannel(microfibre).

cafecito · 22/09/2013 22:14

I only ever use simple eye make up remover, on a cotton wool pad. Nothing else works as well.

festered · 22/09/2013 22:23

Vegetable oil-just the normal stuff. Everything else stings my eyes and/or doesn't work!

kiwik · 23/09/2013 00:07

La Roche Posay physiological micellar solution. Works really well at removing waterproof mascara and leaves my skin feeling really cleansed and refreshed.

ellesabe · 23/09/2013 09:04

Simple facial wipes or Tesco own-brand ones.

SaltySeaBird · 23/09/2013 09:24

I use Clinique 'take the day off' it's a shake to mix formula and shifts everything!!

I swear by this. I have really sensitive skin and use waterproof mascara and this never fails to get rid of it in one or two wipes.

I've tried a lot of other things, including some of the budget suggestions, but find that they require a lot of rubbing to get rid of every last scrap of make up which can leave my face a bit red, puffy and sore.

cressetmama · 23/09/2013 09:34

Klorane Cornflower lotion has worked for me for almost 40 years. Doesn't sting and shifts everything, leaves no residue. Concede that I use less eye makeup than I once did but mascara still has to be waterproof.

101handbags · 23/09/2013 09:48

Take the Day Off is brilliant. I use the Simple eye make-up remover too if not feeling so flush.

Norfolknway · 23/09/2013 09:52

Baby oil and cotton pad things.

Last for ages and keeps my eyes all lovely and soft Grin

mycatlikestwiglets · 23/09/2013 10:10

Boots Botanics here too - it's often on offer so quite cheap. I've tried more expensive (Clinique, Lancôme) and also Simple, Nivea etc but this one is the best and gentlest IMO.

mogontheblock · 23/09/2013 21:30

Baby oil on cotton wool pads, followed by rose toner & then I moisturise. I wear heavy duty waterproof mascara (maybelline) & the baby oil eats through it in seconds :-)

auldspinster · 24/09/2013 00:23

No.7 or RoC biphase removers as I use a lot of mascara.

Cetaphil cleanser, doubles up as face wash too.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 26/09/2013 14:40

baby oil, its great on me. Nothing else I have tried works as well.

Isthisme · 26/09/2013 14:44

Vaseline for me too, rub on and dampen cotton wool pad and cotton wool bud for the tricky eyeliner bits. Have been using this for about 3 years now.

LividofLondon · 26/09/2013 15:32

Body Shop Chamomile eye make-up remover. I've been using it for years and have been happy with it, but at £8 a bottle (and with all the other cheaper recommendations) I might try something else.
