How do I get a grease stain out of my suede boots?

DD dropped some potato salad on my purple suede boots. There is a small, but noticeable grease stain on the top. Sad

Any idea on how I can shift it without incurring colour loss? These are my beloved prune Ash Spirals, so I am very Sad.

Try tons of talcum powder on the stain.
It works on clothing, followed by a baby wipe - not sure how the wipe would work on suede. I reckon the talc should be ok though?

I know with fabric putting a brown paper bag on it and ironing on a gentle heat will draw grease out (worked for me on a skirt that I got melted candle wax on) but am not sure it will work on suede? Worth a shot if you're very careful?

I'm sorry... I think you just need to pretend it just happened... I think that trying to remove it will damage the suede further.

Found this on a site somewhere:

Hey there!

Just watched video jug as suggested by previous answer - but I have a little tip that wasn't suggested for grease on suede.

I've not tried it on shoes, but I had a gorgeous suede jacket that got grease on it - I thought it was ruined. However, what I tried was this.

Fold some kitchen roll or absorbent tissue and place over the stain. Cover with a tea towel. With an iron press firmly over the stain and move the iron in circles. Change the tissue and repeat a few times.

What I found was that the grease melts with the heat and gets absorbed by the tissue. The tea towel protects the suede and the tissue from burning.

I appreciate this is a little more awkward with a shoe as opposed to a jacket, but worth a try.

PS: I hadn't used anything on it previously, so unsure whether this may cause a problem or not. And I had to brush the nap back afterwards - but the grease had gone!

Hope this helps out!!

Thanks Karen - I knew this 'trick' worked on candle wax on the carpet i.e. the kitchen roll/brown paper ironing thing. Did try tonight (little difficullt on shoes). I looked like a twit ironing my shoes - however worked. Still there, but not so obvious. Thanks a lot. Saved my new shoes.
