Does anyone have one n are they any good?

They do two different sizes, what would be best for medium length hair?

Where is best to buy one from?

I have a just above the shoulder bob and I bought mine from Argos and it was the small barrel one.

scarlet76 · 21/09/2013 13:28

Keep hearing about these! I have a short bob. Are they only for long hair?

MrsHoratioNelson · 21/09/2013 13:35

No, bob is (IMHO) the best length. My bob is jaw length and I have the larger one (they didn't make the smaller one when I bought mine).

Don't start with your hair too wet - I can do mine when it's basically dry. Section the hair, but you don't have to do too much. A good blow dry/volumising spray with heat protection will help.

As for where to buy - wherever's cheapest that means you don't have to wait too long Grin

I have the large barrel one and shoulder length hair. Even my hairdresser with the way my hair looked last time I saw her. Agree your hair needs to be at least half dry before you start.

Steinerino · 21/09/2013 14:06

It's fantastic. Mine's just stopped working but I use it everyday and had it over 2 years. I am buying another ASAP. I have fine hair to my collar bone and it gives it loads of swishy volume. The guardian lady, is it Salli something, has a good tutorial on how to use it.

MrsHoratioNelson · 21/09/2013 14:10

Steiner do you still have the receipt? I think they have a 3 year guarantee.

Steinerino · 21/09/2013 14:33

I'll have a look MrsHoratio, thanks for the tip.

Steinerino · 21/09/2013 15:01

MrsHoratioNelson thank you so much, I have just found the original box and proof of purchase and it does have a 3 year guarantee! Silly me just assumed it was 2 years.

Steinerino · 21/09/2013 15:03

And OP Argos have £5 off at the moment. I was going to buy a replacement from there but looks like I might not need to now.

scarlet76 · 21/09/2013 15:33

Thank you for advice that they are suitable for use with a bob. Are they easy to use?

I have a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks so might ask for one

Queenofknickers · 21/09/2013 15:35

I LOVE mine - I've got shoulder length hair. Every time I use it people ask if I've been to hairdressers!! Take a bit of practice but is FAB Grin

Every time they're mentioned on here they get a marmite response. My hair is quite fine and very thin. It is also quite frizzy. Since I have had my BBH it has always looked salon perfect and so neat. It has literally changed my life Grin

I do find that I get some split ends, hence the heat protection spray and a regular trim will help. Kotinka you might want to go easy with it. I find it really easy, but others have said that they can't get the hang of it. There was another thread about them recently and some MNers had them languishing in cupboards. I suggested that those in want buy their BBH from someone who didn't want theirs. Might be worth a shout out.

4amInsomniac · 21/09/2013 17:05

I have the big barreled one, and love the style I can get. Don't love the static/frizz though! My hair is very thick, grey, shoulder length.

Anyone else have this problem? Is there a product that will reduce the static? I use Aussie heat protection spray currently.

scarlet76 · 21/09/2013 17:18

Heads up: Just saw the small barrel one on sale in my local Asda for £28

Nyborg · 21/09/2013 17:50

4am, Sali Hughes in the Guardian did a piece on static hair (mine is very fine and thick and gets awfully static). She suggested shampooing and then using a spray-in conditioner (I use Aussie), and finishing with Elnett.

There are some quite helpful YouTube tutorials for whoever asked how easy they are to use...very easy!

FabMum1 · 21/09/2013 20:52

So is there much difference between the two different sizes?

OnionRing · 21/09/2013 21:03

I have fine hair in a long bob and get no static after using the BBH. I get swishy, shiny hair that looks so much better that it would otherwise. I use it when my hair is almost dry and use Tresemme heat protection spray. I find it very easy to use despite being hopeless at that kind of thing normally. It's become a complete essential for me.

georgey69 · 22/09/2013 13:34

Babyliss have just brought our a new improved version of the Big Hair and this one has (allegedly) a 'super ionic' system to eliminate static.

Somone at babyliss spent weeks trying to think of a great new name for the new version and ended up with 'Babyliss New Big Hair'. Clever, clever...

chocolatemartini · 22/09/2013 14:41

I love mine. I wait until hair 90% dry then section to use it

Hopasholic · 22/09/2013 18:06

I'll try and describe what I do with mine to eliminate that top layer of static/frizz. Using the BBH, on your last action at the top, run it the other way so you're brushing the barrell over the top section. That doesn't make any sense does it?? Grin

Brush the top using the barrel as if it was a hairbrush. Does that make sense? Blush Smile

FabMum1 · 07/10/2013 20:56

Ladies, ibex still not got one

Do I go for the smaller one or bigger one?
