Help! I've just boiled my henna - what is likely to happen if I still use it?

Does anybody know?

I didn't think it was even possible to boil something in a bain maire Confused but there it was, bubbling away - doh!

Darn you children for distracting me!

Ah you lot! Too slow - it's on.
Am now hoping for the best and fearing the worst

It will be fine, mine used to be accidently left to bubble all the time.

Oh thanks. That's reassuring to hear Smile. I was sure I read somewhere that something happens to it when it gets too hot??
I'll see in a couple of hours...

On some of the henna forums they advocate never really heating it at all, just disolving it and waiting for 'dye release' over a period of about 12 hours, all sounded like an enormous faff to me.

I just used lush stuff, boiling water, bain marie, poked it until it was smoothish, then dumped it on my head, always looked great Grin

I do think the 3 1/3 to 4 hours is the best developing time.

I am slightly nostalgic now, I am currently sporting a pixie cut having had all my henna cut out on Thursday.

What you're describing is pretty much exactly what I do too. And with Lush henna Grin
DH and DSs always complain about the smell of my 'pond scum' but I live the colour and what it does for my hair.

It's my midlife crisis - I hennaed as a student and now again in my late 40s

I wonder how long it'll take me to get fed up with it?
I've grown my hair from a really short cut to shoulder length.

Well, my hair is Not Green Grin.

I'm happy. DH will have to put up with the smell until the next wash. Or 3
