So one week in oil cleansing...

I started oil cleansing a week ago using coconut oil and almond oil (alternating). I look like a greasy chip now... my hair is so oily and so is my face. I do have combination skin so usually have a bit of shine on the nose, but no like this. I don't seem to have blocked pores which I have read can happen with coconut oil (how would I know they are blocked btw, will it be spotty?)

So now I am having to wash my hair everyday, so I don't think this is going to work for me. Is this possible just a stage of my body trying to get used to all the oil?

I had the same problem with Bio-oil when I used it to try lesson stretch marks.

I can't speak for the hair but the oil cleansing my face was not good for me. It made my skin feel soft but not in a nice way and I got spots.

I buy baby wipes to use with cold cream or any cheap make up remover, then I take another baby wipe and rinse it under the warm water tap and wash my face using anti bacterial hand wash, yes really, and pat dry. Then about five minutes later I apply moisturiser etc

That is my bed time fae routine. In the morning I use a cloth in the bath or shower which I gently exfoliate with.

I have combination skin and tried almond oil at some point and I broke out in spots really badly.

I now use a combination of olive (80%) and castor oil (20%) and it works a treat. my skin has never been better.

Just on the hair oil. Imo you only need to oil your hair one a week at the most and then on the mid lengths and ends.
When you wash it out neat shampoo first with no water untill you have a very good lather. Then rinse.

Vintagebeads, apologies if I didn't explain well in my post. I'm not using the oil in my hair, only on my face. My hair has become terribly greasy since using the oil on my face for cleansing. I seem to be absorbing the oil....

Blush sorry read that wrong !!

Are you making sure to remove it all thoroughly, with hot water and a muslin or facecloth?

OCM didn't really do anything for me. Wasn't bad, but not as good as my usual routine (which is fairly oil-based anyway, I use Ultrabland from Lush and remove it with a hot cloth, have done for years).

I have combination skin and have found the OCM is fantastic for removing make up, but I also use a gentle face wash after to make sure no residue is left. I've been doing this for a year and its really helped my skin as it gets my skin clean, make up free and the hot cloth gentle exfoliates.
