Smart dress I can breastfeed in?

For my graduation. Halp! Should I buy a special nursing dress (if so, please proffer recommendations)? Would I be ok in a normal wrap dress (again, please recommend!)? Are there other styles I have discounted?

I don't know where to begin looking. I'm mid-twenties, size 10. Heavy of hip and bum, modest of tit, flat of stomach. Ideally I'd like to spend in the region of £30 but I think I'd be very open to spending a good bit more for the right dress.

Have a look at Phase Eight, they have some rather nice wrap and mock wrap dresses that although are a bit over your budget, could be used again and again for work or casual.

I was just comming on to post the same thing!

Maybe also consider a pashmina or shawl for extra security

I used to wear deep cut wrap dresses with a vest top underneath pull wrap dress to the side and vest top up and your very well covered

Congratulations on your graduation

peeohayess · 14/09/2013 20:06

are any of these any good for you?

peeohayess · 14/09/2013 20:09

or these?

peeohayess · 14/09/2013 20:11

I had an M&S jersey wrap dress which worked fine

Apologies for blatant lazy linking! Grin

And congratulations on your graduation too! Thanks

I've got a Boden mock wrap dress (jersey tea dress off eBay recently, which I can feed in, though I feel a bit exposed doing it as I don't usually bare the top of my breast when feeding and I couldn't get a vest to lie flat enough underneath it once I'd pulled it up to feed.

At a recent wedding I got a top and skirt from Ben de Lisi at Principles (Debenhams) which looked like a dress when on - sorry, on phone while BFing so can't link, but they were a beige background with a black skeleton leaf design on them.

Magic maxi dress from babeswithbabies.com is my special occasion discreet bf dress recommendation

I have two Monsoon dresses which work for bf as they're stretchy, so it's easy to pop a boob out. On my phone but will attempt to link!

Congrats on graduating Grin

Both Matalan and Peacocks often have some nice and reasonably priced wrap dresses.

Have fun and enjoy your big day Grin

Also worth considering whether you need to pin your gown to the dress at the front? I wore a blouse for graduation which of course pulled up annoyingly. Dress should be okay though.

Hi, google 'mothers en vogue' and 'Izzy's mum'. MeV are a fan bf brand - some items are a little pricey but all their stuff can be tumble dried and hung straight up with no ironing and its made for bf and slight post pg figures - NOT maternity so it doesn't hang wrong if you're immediate post pg tummy has gone. Izzy's mum is a fab website with bf clothes too.

Thanks again!

Another (poss silly) question: are there other unspoken rules about appropriate clothing? Would a red dress be OK, for instance, or is that insufficiently sober? How short is too short? The uni don't have any dress code apart from the gown etc, but I feel slightly out of my depth socially here, like everyone else knows the secret cultural rules and I don't.

Red would be fine! I wore purple to my first graduation

I´d go for on knee of just below.

Lovely. Thanks!
