The label says it's 53% cotton 47% nylon. It has a lining that is 100% cotton. It has buttons.

Can I dye it? Should I remove the buttons first?

I've dyed a jacket this week, I went from dark green to navy. But it was 100% cotton, with an acetate lining.
I left the buttons on and it was fine.

Have you looked on dylon's site, as to which dye you can use on nylon?

What colour are you intending to dye the jacket? If it's not too dark - and you won't wear the jacket otherwise - it's worth a try.

However . . . the cotton fibres will absorb the dye better than the nylon, and so you might end up with a "heathery" effect.

It's probably best to remove the buttons. Will you need some in a different colour anyway?

Oops! I wrote the wrong thing - it's 53% cotton and 47% linen (no nylon! Don't know where I got that from!)

I want to dye it purple.

The buttons are dark brown so I probably won't need to replace them.

Excellent, that should work out really well
(but don't blame us if it doesn't Wink)

Both those fibres shoul dye easily. Watch for the stitching though

Just dyed some jeggings and a faded parka navy with one pack of dylon. They've come out brilliantly. Natural fabrics work really well.
