I used to swear by river island but last 2 pairs have not lasted (holes in between the legs). Willing to spend extra if they last n not bag etc...

Jack wills.
Really long, thick and keep their shape...dd has had hers 2 years and wears them constantly.

VivaLeThrustBadger · 16/10/2013 07:13

M&s. not their standard ones, they do others which are much thicker for about £15.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 16/10/2013 11:29

suprisingly, Primark control leggings. they are thick, high waisted and tight so stay up, slim down, and wash well.

MamiTries · 16/10/2013 11:31

I second Jack Wills, very warm. Also American Apparel winter leggings are good.

Recently bought some from Boden and am very disappointed, very thin and overpriced.

"What's been your best pair of leggings?"
The purple ones I had from Miss Selfridge in 1989, they were the first ones I'd had with proper lycra in the thread, instead of elastic knitted into them which would snag & unravel. They were a revelation, and I wore them until they wore through at the inner thigh, even resewed the seams a few times.

They cost something like £15 which was a huge amount back then (my rent was £27 a week Grin), although since then clothing has got vastly cheaper & housing vastly more expensive so it's not a fair comparison!

I wouldn't personally expect to pay much more than £15 today for a decent pair of leggings, though it doesn't faze me if I see a really good thick pair for about £40 even though I wouldn't them myself.

BanoffeeSplitz · 16/10/2013 12:08

I currently have a pair from Calmia (via TKMaxx) which remind me of my beloved stretchy Miss Selfridge leggings, lovely smooth brushed cotton. Actually their RRP is prob over £40 but no idea if they ever sell for that much.

Mostly just wear woollen footless tights (with dresses / shorts), or thicker jeggings (with long tops) these days, leggings are just too inbetweeny no that I'm no longer likely to pair them with a lycra mini skirt & DMs.

Wallis-without a doubt.

What annoys me about leggings is that they a) go baggy around the knees b) fade and c) cut in around the waist giving an awful shape underneath clothes (I often wear them under dresses for work)

The Wallis ones are v stretchy and fit to your shape without going baggy. I have 4 pairs now (have cut two pairs down and wear in the summer under summer dresses) and they are still as black as they were originally. They have a high thick waist and almost suck your tummy in-leaving no horrid lines!

They are very stretchy so size down if you buy them-I'm a 12 and buy a small. I have recommended them to so many people and all my friends and family now wear them too!

polyhymnia · 16/10/2013 12:28

Boden, definitely (though I only wear leggings in the summer).

bunnymother · 16/10/2013 13:33

I find the American Apparel ones v nice and thick. Especially their winter ones which I might need to buy for wearing w wellies when I am trudging about after the DCs through the garden in middle of winter.

SarahGoodwin33 · 16/10/2013 13:38

White Stuff leggings are really nice quality, not cheap but worth it. I also have taken to wearing woolly tights instead of leggings (assuming I am wearing a long enough dress etc over them ahem...

teta · 16/10/2013 14:43

Monsoon secret support leggings .Feel really nice on and hold in tummy(unlike the horrible ones that M&S did).

ElBombero · 16/10/2013 15:59

Been Trafford centre n got American apparel so will give those a try. Not sure if I got winter ones though, they just feel normal...

BTW sweaty Betty ones looked great, really thick and stretcy but £65 Shock

I found the M&S Cotton Rich leggings to be very poor quality. They looked great on, and I loved the thick waist band, but they got holes in between the legs within a couple of weeks! My cheapo Primark and Matalan ones I've had for years! I'm going to try a different type of M&S legging next, because I really did like that thick waistband...

magentastardust · 18/10/2013 23:13

Tu at Sainsbury's -thick waistband and keep shape and don't go shiney!

ElBombero · 18/10/2013 23:36

Been to 3 different sainsburys now n not found any luxury ones in stock :(

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/10/2013 23:49

Sainsburys have to 2 for £10 ones (which are not so good....well ok they split open up my bum and DD laughed herself sick at my pants showing .Blush Luckily, I was in the garden )

The good ones (£10) are few and far between.

I'm wearing M&S at the moment. I got black and navy, really like them.
And the denimy 'ski pant' style.
And the 'famous 5 pocket jeggings'

rosariok · 27/10/2013 10:15

Danskin supplex leggings... the best.

What's been your best pair of leggings?
Thants · 27/10/2013 11:52

Matalam leggings have been really good for me. Wash well and don't get holes to easy! They are nice and long and cheap too!

Alwayscheerful · 13/11/2013 13:36

The £10 luxury ones from sainsburys are fab but I can only find them in black, do they sell them in navy blue?

Rosencrantz · 13/11/2013 13:38

I bought a sparkly pair from Zara. I know by best you meant best quality. These rant great quality.

But they're the best because they make me so happy!

peachypips · 13/11/2013 13:43

Is that Tina Turner?

eurochick · 13/11/2013 13:49

My best pair is from warehouse. I've had them for years - no bobbling or splitting. The colour is starting to fade very slightly now, after many, many washes. I wonder if they still sell them?
