Which wellies?

We have just got a puppy and as we live in the west of Scotland where it rains all the time I'm after a good quality pair of wellies.

I find wellies uncomfortable to walk large distances with, so I would rather spend £££s on a good quality comfy pair that will last ages than a cheaper pair.

Are Hunters really that good or are you paying or the label, round here yummy mummies have pristine Hunters that ont have a splash of rain on them.

What about Joules saw a nice pair on there?

Le Chameaus are great but very pricey. Hunters aren't that good as they aren't lined so your feet get very cold. Le Chameaus are leather or neoprene lined.

I had no idea such a thing as a nice leather welly existed!

Good housekeeping reviewed wellies in this months magazine, think aigle came out top, I had heard great things about le chameau but found the shape didn't suit my feet, I would try a few, maybe go to equestrian shop and if as said above they are not lined try them with really good socks and perhaps welly liners.

Le Chameau aren't always lined, dh has a pair for gardening and they are just like standard Wellies but the rubber is very soft and flexible a complete joy to wear in comparison to my Hunters - which looked great but leak and give your calf muscles a great work out, I won't be buying Hunter again. I'd buy a pair of the leather Wellies lined with gortex if I was using them daily, I bet they're really warm too.

I have a pair of Aigle Wellies lined with neoprene. I got them in a sale or wouldn't have thought of getting the neoprene, and they are fantastic. They are very soft, so are comfortable, but still give my feet support. I can walk a long way in them without my feet getting tired.

The lining is reallly good too: I can last standing around in the snow when ledging a lot longer than MrBearleigh in his bog standard Wellies. They must be 12 years old now and are showing no wear. Not a very nice colour: very khaki.

I love Le Chams. They are just so comfie. I have tried so many different boots over the years. They are perfect. Last year when it was snowing dd and I were walking the dog, and dd was nearly in tears with the cold whilst wearing her hunters. She came home and ordered Le Chams and has not looked back.

I have had both Hunter and Joules for regular dog walking and neither lasted more than 6 months ... Don't do them! I now have Muck Boots for serious mud (ie normal!) which have lasted now more than 2 years, worn at least once a day. My husband has some over 5 years old. Warm and comfy and waterproof and lasting. And not as expensive as the lovely Chameau etc. I also have some Ariat for riding and less muddy walking/ events etc, which are great but pricier £130 ish. My son has Dunlop which are waterproof and functional! I would recommend them all. Let the prices decide!
