What should I wear this AW? I'm clueless and need help

I'm turning frumpy and dull and I think I need a personal shopper of fairy godmother to help. I have no idea what is in now and I'm fed up of jeans, which don't fit, and tips which do nothing for me. I long to wear heels again and skirts but I'm a SAHM and don't really go anywhere but I think I might feel better about myself if I dressed better but I have no clue where to shop or what to buy. My default was always Next, , primarily for thd directory and thd nearest shop is next to Tesco. But my mum has started to shop from there.
I had a horrible moment last week when I stood next to my Mum and realised I was dressed just like her. But she looked better.
I'm a mess and I would love some advice please.

I'm sure the experts will be along in a minute, but to help us make suggestions can you tell us a bit about height/dress size/figure type.
Age of course is just a figure, but presume you are 20/s/30s if SAHM?

I'm 5 foot 6. Size 12/14. Fairly well proportioned and fairly unassuming and quiet so I would wear things that draw a lot of attention to me. Definately not a Boho type or vintage style. I just want to feel feminine again and not look like my Mum.

I wouldn't wear things that draw attention. I'm off to thd laptop as my fingers as clearly too fat fof this.

Maybe if you lack confidence it would be a good idea to go to one shop that has the right sort of clothes? Oasis www.oasis-stores.com/winter-rose-print-dress/dresses/oasis/fcp-product/3470111868 have some very feminine styles, and Warehouse is good too. Where are the experts?

You sound a similar shape and size to me. How about maxi skirts? Depends on how old your dc are but I think they look feminine and can be dressed down with flat ankle boots / fashion trainers.

like so

same sort of idea

nice

Also knee length dress with chunky tights and boots looks more feminine than jeans but also comfortable for chasing dc

doesn't have to be such a bright dress

this

but a longer dress

My preferred look atm (though its not v feminine I concede) is harem / peg type trousers and leather jacket:

without heels

Pinterest is a great place to get inspiration.

Also things like bright colours, scarves, great coat etc can make you feel more put together.

I bought some asda jeans...they are shaper kind of ones, and come up nice and high over my tummy and hips..they hold everything in and make tops etc look much better because the lumps and bumps are minimised.

maybe some new well fitting jeans would be a start, then you could go and try on in a shop....get a handful of things you like but are not sure if they are 'you' and try them.....take someone with you to act as your size runner, and tell them to be very honest.

one or two new items, teamed with some new boots/scarves/bag etc may boost your confidence until you can find your own new style.

good luck.

Yes, you need to set aside some time and go and try loads of jeans on till you find some that fit.

Jeans and shoes are a good place to start.

Right- have been reading thd posts in style and beauty and now I've more questions... I like thd DVF wrap dresses and the Vivienne Westwood dresses on net a porter. Bit dressy for school run but feeling more inspired most
Apart from Internet where can you see and try these sorts of clothes on? Do I need to go to London ? Do John Lewis stock good designers? House of Fraser?
