Leather biker jacket to wedding

I am going to an Asian fusion wedding next week, its a church ceremony but with a big Asian influence so not your conventional kind of do. I have this dress www.wallis.co.uk/en/wluk/product/dresses-265974/polka-dot-dresses-1840713/black-polka-dot-dress-2030498?bi=1&ps=20 which I bought when the weather was warmer and never entered my head that I might be cold. I have these shoes www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/shoes/high-heel-pointed-heel-shoes-c269191p1406050.html to funk it up a bit. I am not a cardigan person so am considering my Lipsy biker jacket, its old so no link I am afraid but it is short, fitted with defined shoulders so probably a bit dressier than your standard biker jacket. I am quite a classic dresser but sometimes like to be a bit different. Haven't been to a wedding for years as everyone I know is married and never been to an Asian fusion wedding either ! Should I wear a shrug instead?

Only wear a biker jacket to a wedding if you are Cher. Or it's a Hells Angels Fusion wedding.

If not, then wear a pashmina/wrap/shawl to keep warm.

Nice outfit, really love it! Depends on the couple really...I know someone who wore 3/4 length combats and reef shoes and the bride and groom were quite relaxed about it. Shawl/pashmina thing would be playing it safe.

buttercrumble · 11/09/2013 09:51

Beautiful outfit but I wouldn't go with the biker jacket, how about a black blazer type

katykoo · 11/09/2013 10:13

Thanks SundayGrin like it.
Hear what you're saying girls. Think I knew the answer just wanted to put it past you lot.Looks like I will be playing it safe somehow. I wear blazers everyday with jeans so never even considered one for a wedding. I feel more dressed up in the leather jacket.

katykoo · 11/09/2013 10:26

I forgot to say that I really like the dress and shoes, they are lovely.

Seaweedy · 11/09/2013 10:31

I am, in fact, Cher. I would tell you a lot more, but I can't talk because my face is stiff from all the lifts... Grin

Twinklestein · 11/09/2013 10:33

I'd wear a fitted black jacket with a little nipped in waist.

Yonihadtoask · 11/09/2013 11:53

I think it would be fine.

Love the dress and the shoes.

Rock it!!

Kezztrel · 11/09/2013 11:54

Lovely outfit and I'd like it with a biker jacket, but not to a wedding, tempting as it may be! I'm not a cardi person or a smart jacket person and can't stand pashminas and shrugs. So always have this problem :) I either get a dress with sleeves, freeze or wear a smart wool coat.

Biker jackets do look really casual and I don't like to risk things like that for the sake of style when it's someone else's wedding (unless you know they are happy with very casual).

tethersend · 11/09/2013 12:04

I wore a leather jacket over a silk dress and killer heels to a wedding about ten years ago. I found it under the stairs.

I looked bloody brilliant Grin

tethersend · 11/09/2013 12:07

If you want to be smarter, just get a fake fur short jacket like this

tethersend · 11/09/2013 12:07

But I prefer the leather jacket tbh.

katykoo · 11/09/2013 12:13

I know what you mean kezztrell. There is part of me that thinks sod it like yoni says and just rock it. But it's not my day. I remember going to a wedding and seeing someone in shorts. Whilst the lady in question looked lovely I did think Hmm. I have a little black cropped cardigan, no buttons like a thin knit shrug. Boring but probably more appropriate. Once I have a few wines I will no doubt fling it across the room on my way to the dance floor and won't care!

I love the dress and shoes. I am also a fan of leather jackets. I think, as others have said, that the shawl / pashmina option is the safest, but really it depends on the jacket. Could you upload a photo of your jacket on to your profile?

katykoo · 11/09/2013 14:00

tethers that's not fair! I have such great respect for your taste so now you have thrown me! Play safe or do a tethers ??www.josephm.com/ladies-store-8/jackets-18/josephm-black-lipsy-cropped-biker-jacket-341164.htm ... the jacket!!
