What are you wearing on your feet?

I've lived in birkenstocks all summer but now it's just too cold!

I'm not sure I'm ready to embrace winter boots yet! Confused

Ooh I like those Dr Martins! I'm really bad with shoes I always go for the cheap ones but end up having to buy other pairs, rather than just investing in a really good quality pair.

At the moment im wearing black brogues from Dorothy Perkins which were in the sale but I really ought to go buy myself some decent shoes!

They are their wedges. They do them in cherry red and purple too. They are bloody comfortable.

Ooh I've been eyeing up those Docs for the last two winters .... Tell me HoneyDragon, what is the sizing like? (I haven't worn Docs since the early 90s and my feet measure an exact 4 1/2 according to Clarks ....)
Thank you Smile

I want those Docs in red Honey. I was after the fly version but I have big calves. Do you reckon the Docs would fit a chunky calf?

The sizing is exactly like normal Docs. I'm a 5 and wear a 5 in these. I was lucky enough to get mine on ebay for £13 having only been worn once as the lady found them uncomfortable on her calf. She did state she normally wore wide fitting boots though but liked the dm's so much she was willing to risk her circulation Grin

I don't find them tight at all and can wear them over skinnies.

In the interest of scientific enquiry I put dh's thick wooly forces sock on over my skinny jeans and they still fit.

According to the tape measure that was 15"

I am a 16 inch calf so I might try and squeeze them on. Thanks Honeydragon.

Not quite cold enough on the south west coast for winter boots yet so I am also favouring high tops and brogues.

I'm in Somerset still warm ish here.

Today wore tan ankle boots, black drapey dress with bare legs. Plus denim jacket and scarf. DH laughed and said 'welcome to the 90s'. I'm taking as a compliment. Grin

As long as you didn't do double denim Bill?

Lots of West country folk on this thread. I am in North Somerset.

Don't know why you've had such bad luck with your ankle boots Jemima, like I said mine are about to do their third winter and I definitely recommend them. Smile

I love the fact that whenever I go to start a thread on MN, the same one has already just been started! So, I'm crap at shoes, and I really need guidance on what to wear at this time of year - something comfortable, that I can wear with socks, that are preferably slip-on, but aren't too frumpy. On the back of this thread I'm now thinking either some Clarks Orinoco or some desert boots (do you have to tie them, or do they slip on? And they're pricey!). Alternatively, what do you think of these - maybe too smart/casual? (I'm a v casual kinda girl.) www.clarks.co.uk/p/20355398.

I work from home so... still nothing most of the time - not ready to put on socks yet. This evening went for a walk in sandals. (In sunny Lancashire.)

Thanks for this thread. The Clarks Orinoco looks good to me - and it's great they named a shoe after a womble!

Just got some of these Keen Hoodoo boots on sale.

They are very comfy and seem to be waterproof so far!
