gardening/walking trousers

Please help. I need some CHEAP cotton (or mostly cotton) trousers. Wide-ish legs, fairly quick-drying, some zip or button-down pockets handy and must be suitable for a curvy, short-legged female.

I'm a size 12-16 depending on shop (ie - Sainsburys sees me as a 12) with wide hips, slimmer waist and pretty short legs. I just can;t find anything appropriate. Sainsburys had some fab trousers a few years back but they've all gone into holes. Has anyone seen something?

Forgot to say - I tried on a load of dedicated walking trousers (love the zip-off idea) and they were, without fail, too tight round the hips, too big in the waist, hideously blouson at the top of the thighs and about a foot too long!

Try Cragghoppers? I have some fab ones from a few years ago which are stretchy, lower waisted than most walking trousers which avoids most of the issues you mentioned, and fit me without adjusting, 5'3.

Try ebay or walking outlet shops for these, especially at this time of year. If you can stretch to £20-£30 they should last several years even with lots of use.

I second Craghoppers. I wear them all the time! You can get them for £12-20 on EBay (new), much cheaper than in the shops.

Um - when you say low-waisted do you mean they would sit under my wobbly c-section tummy? I generally prefer to keep that well strapped down... :D
